The loud shrieking noise of crickets chirping was the first thing that your mind was able to register as your consciousness returned to you.

Then after a few seconds, the pounding headache set in, and a pained groan slipped from your lips as you rolled onto your back. Your eyes opened slowly, eyelids weighed down by the fog in your mind, and you looked around.

Confusion washed over you as you didn't see the (f/c) walls of your bedroom, and you sat up, rubbing your eyes and trying to figure out what was going on.

All around you were tall trees and overgrown bushes and weeds, the distinct smell of pine trees and wild flowers in the air.

It took your mind a moment to catch up, and piece together how you'd ended up here, but when it did, you were immediately on your feet, eyes wide.

The events of last night flooded your mind, the last thing you remembered, when you fell into that hole, being at the front of your thoughts.

But that just confused you further.

If you'd fallen into some deep dark pit.... How did you get out?

You ran your fingers through your hair to rid it of leaves and whatever else had ended up entangled in your (h/c) locks, looking around you for any clue as to what happened after you passed out.

And after a moment of searching, your eyes landed on a large oak. The same one you had been heading towards last night. It looked about as far away as it had when you fell, but the ground underneath you was completely solid.

You walked around the tree, looking for any place where the ground looked like it caved in.... But there was nothing. Your eyebrows furrowed, and you turned your sights to the bark of the tree, trying to find those carved eyes that you'd seen.

But they weren't there either.

You rubbed your hands over your face, blinking a couple of times as you inhaled deeply, trying to get your thoughts in order.

Were you crazy?

Did you imagine all of it?

A loud ringing suddenly sounded out, making you jump in surprise before you realized it was coming from your phone. You rolled your eyes and reached into the pocket of your hoodie to retrieve the device, but then froze when your hand landed on something else.

Hesitantly pulling your hand back, you saw a small golden thing laying in your palm. It looked like some sort of old pocket watch... But it had been cut in half or something... The clock part of it seemed to be built into the rest of the watch, so there was really no face, but just markings instead. And towards the top was a shiny blue half circle with what looked like a picture of the sun on it. The part that seemed to have been cut you figured would've had gears and stuff showing, but instead the inside that was visible was just filled with some purple crystal looking stuff.

You turned it around in your hands while you examined it, eyebrows furrowed as you tried to figure out what it was and how you'd ended up with it. You were positive you hadn't had it last night.

Noticing that your phone was still ringing, you quickly grabbed it and hit answer before looking at the caller ID, eyes still fixed on the little half-watch.

"Hello?"

"WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?"

You flinched as the loud voice hit your ears, immediately recognizing your best friend on the other side of the phone.

"Jeez Carter, are you trying to blow out my eardrums? Why are you yelling?"

"Why am I- (Y/n) I've been trying to call you for three hours! You disappeared last night and I only realized it after the party was over, which means I wasn't paying attention and it would've been my fault if you got murdered or something! I was like a few minutes from having to tell my dad! He would've killed me!"
