Bailey didn't have high hopes for the day, not after yesterday, but even she was surprised with how fidgety and nervous she was. The other wolves weren't kind on a good day, but now, she shuddered at the repercussions of assaulting Sean.

"Stop it," Emily barked as she parked the Jeep and climbed out. "Your twitching is giving me heart palpitations."

"I can't help it," Bailey said. "I can't calm down." And Emily thought she had heart problems? They would be nothing compared to Bailey. Everything seemed out of sync.

"Just try," Emily said optimistically, heading off to first period.

Bailey followed her at a much slower pace, but even as she settled down for History, she couldn't help but notice the whispers and glances being thrown her way. A few aggressive glances, at that, especially by the other wolves.

As Sean and Jaxon entered the room, a heavy silence fell over the room. People expected some kind of repercussions, any kind of punishment, but none came. Jaxon didn't even glance at Bailey, but as she quickly lowered her head, she couldn't help but catch Sean's weary glace. Sean, unlike Jaxon, wasn't ready to pass off yesterday's events as a one off.

The weird looks continued as the day progressed. Bailey felt like she was walking through an air-tight corridor. No was in. No way out. Not enough oxygen for rational brain function.

Shay came over to her once English finished. "Hey, Wolfie."

Bailey barley glanced at him, only continued to shove her books into her bag. "What do you want?" Finally, she knew what he was. Not a witch like she first suspected. An alchemist.

"Just a warning."

Bailey did look at him then. "What?"

"If your gonna make another sceptical today. I'll like to know if I need to steer clear."

Bailey pushed pact him and headed out the door. "Asshole."

Outside in the hall, she spotted Emily chatting with Adam at his locker. She almost sagged in relief. Finally, familiar, friendly faces.

"Hey, Not-Omega." Adam's face was cherry. He seemed over yesterday's argument, but only because something else seemed to have snatched his interest.

"Huh?"

"Not-Omega," Adam repeated, closing his locker. "Those so-called mighty wolves can't call you an omega if you're gonna push them around, now can they?"

"Adam!" Emily hissed, slapping his arm to silence him.

"What'd I do?"

Emily gave him a sharp look. "You know what you did. Now, drop it."

Bailey appreciated Emily's efforts, but only she could do so much. Adam's curiosity didn't seem to end. On the way to Manifesting, he couldn't seem to contain his thoughts. "What was it like? Finally hitting back, after all this time. I bet it was great, huh?" Adam may not have all that many problems with the alpha-crowd, but he was fully aware of the tension that revolved around Bailey.

Bailey hid a smile. "It did feel kinda good."

"Yeah, I bet it did." Emily shared her smile, shooting a crowd of young wolves a rude gesture as they stopped in the hallway and stared at Bailey. She wrapped an arm around Bailey's shoulders and pulled her along. "How are you holding up?"

"By a thread."

Emily snorted. "I figured. Just one more period, then you can unwind in lunch. You can do that, right?"
