Chapter 18: News

3rd Person POV
Bella arrived at the Cullen household with her shield up, not to the point they can't see her, they just can't use their gifts on her.

Bella let out a loud bark to alert the Cullens of her arrival. Carlisle was first and then Esme. "Ella! Back so soon?" He smiled, Bella nodded her head and opened a connection towards them. 'Urgent news about the pack and the volturi.'

Carlisle's eyes widened and stepped aside so that Ella could walk past them and enter the open door, Bella got the message and walked towards the porch and into the living room.

"Family meeting!" Carlisle called out. Immediately, Jasper, Alice, Rosalie and Emmett went to the living room. "Where are the rest?" Esme asked. "Becca and Melanie are out shopping." Rosalie replied. "And Adam went out on a drive." Emmett added. "Alright, we'll inform them later, Ella has some news for us." Carlisle sat down on one of the couches and Ella sat on the floor next to Esme.

She opened the connection towards Rosalie and Emmett.

"She says sorry to Jasper and Alice, she's still reluctant to trust them because of your gifts." Rosalie voiced out Ella's thoughts. Jasper let out a sigh but nodded while Alice just shrugged and sat down.

"The volturi crossed the reservation, when we confronted them, they told us a rogue vampire have been creating newborns around our area." Carlisle repeated, his voice raising into panic in the middle of it.

"Newborns?" Jasper raised his eyebrows. Bella nodded her head. "This is news, I'll call Aro on this." Carlisle sped to his office immediately.

Ella just laid on the floor comfortably, as if nothing's wrong. "Ella." Emmett spoke, Bella raised her head and looked at him. 'Yes, Emmett?' Esme and his siblings looked at him in anticipation.

"I was wondering if you know, you want to uhhh.. restle?" He felt a jab on the shoulder by Rosalie as she looked at Emmett with a confused look.

"What?! It's been awhile since I had a good fight!" Emmett grinned sheepishly. "Besides, it's just gonna be a friendly little spar, right Ella?"

Bella thought for a moment but eventually nodded her head. 'Yeah, friendly.'

"Sweet, I'll get the backyard ready! Jasper, you're coming with me." Emmett dragged Jasper almost against his will as he sped outside. "You are aware of his gift, correct?" Esme mumbled, slightly worried.

'I'll be fine Esme.' Bella bared her teeth slightly, the edge of her snout curling upwards into a weird grin. Alice just stared, stared at Ella as Ella stared back, looking confused.

"She's asking if there's anything wrong." Rosalie talked for Ella. Alice shook her head with a smile and a shrug, before reverting her gaze elsewhere. Bella hoped that she would've stared longer, but she had a mask to put up.

When the right time comes.

Emmett came speeding back in. "The backyard's ready Ella! Let's do this!"

Carlisle used the old fashioned phone as Aro used less modern technology.

"Carlisle, my good friend! It is such a surprise to hear from you. Out of the blue, might I add."

The eerily optimistic voice of Aro spoke from the other side of the phone.

"Hello Aro, I hope you're doing well." Carlisle forced himself to calm down and town his shock for a bit.

"I am doing just fine Carlisle. Let us cut the small talk short, what do you wish from me my dear friend?"

"Information Aro. We were informed that a rogue is lose and creating new borns around our area."

"Ah yes! Yes! Apologies, I had forgotten to inform you."

Bullshit. Carlisle thought.

"Indeed. We dispatched a team to investigate in Washington, you have nothing to worry about."

Carlisle sighed but didn't question Aro any further. "I see, thank you for confirmation. We will be sure to call if anything ever comes up."

Aro then hung up, the line was dead. Carlisle furrowed his brows. There was something wrong. Very wrong.
