Aragorn pushed through the crowd of peasants and found Gandalf and the others in front of the doors.
"They will not let us in. Not with this-this annoying crowd," Gimli grumbled.
"They've taken Rowan," Aragorn panted. "That's why there is a mob, they've taken Rowan and plan to drain her blood."
"No!" Gandalf pointed his staff at the doors and they forcefully flew open.
At the end of the red carpet by the throne was me with my hands over a bowl and Grima chanting as he knelt in front of me and got ready to slit my wrists.
Gimli and Legolas fought the guards off. Aragorn and my father did the same as they ran to me and Grima.
Grima's knife slit into my skin. I screamed at the top of my lungs as he held my wrist over the bowl and let the blood drip. I cried and cried but his magic would not let me move. Tears of blood dripped down my face as my screams echoed against the walls.
Aragorn hit the blade out of Grima's hands with his sword and he pushed him on the ground with his foot. Gimli pointed his axe at Grima's hand and Legolas aimed at bow at him. "Release her from your magic!" Legolas commanded.
Grima only chuckled.
"Hearken to me! I release you from the spell." My father pointed his hand at Theoden who soon began laughing with Grima.
"You have no power here...Gandalf the Grey," Theoden said. My father pushed off his gray cloak to reveal his white robes. Theoden gasped.
Aragorn knelt beside me and quickly began wrapped my wrist.
"I will draw you, Saruman as poison is drawn from a wound." My father pointed his staff at Theoden who groaned as the poison was sucked away.
"Release her!" Legolas shouted at Grima again.
The color quickly returned to Theoden's face. His eyes turned back to normal and his strength returned. Theoden hugged his niece, Eowyn and happily breathed the fresh air.
Aragorn wiped the tears of blood off my face. I had never felt weaker than in that moment. "Gandalf!" Aragorn cried.
Gandalf knelt beside me and looked at the blood in the bowl. I began to shake and goosebumps formed on my skin. I felt cold and weak. "Oh...Rowan," he whispered.
"Take care of her," Theoden said. "I will take care of this rat." The guards drug Grima through the castle and threw him out the doors and down the stairs.
Gandalf released me from his magic and I fell into Aragorn's arms.
"Will she be okay?" Gimli asked.
"I do not know. He drained quite a bit of blood. To use for himself, no doubt," my father replied. I grabbed onto Aragorn's arm and whimpered.
"We have a medical room," Eowyn said. "We can take her there."
Aragorn picked me up and carried me through a corridor to the med room. He laid me on a small bed but I wouldn't release his hand, so he knelt beside me and stayed there.
*******************************************
When I awoke from a deep sleep, Aragorn was still by my side. He smiled when he saw my eyes flutter open. "Rowan," he happily said. Then he kissed my forehead and then my hand.
I felt different. I couldn't figure out why or how I felt different. But there was something that did not feel right.
Aragorn looked as if he had tears in his eyes.
"What is the matter?" I whispered to him. He gave me an upside down smile and kissed my forehead again.
"Your father rode to Eomer and his forces. He should be back in five days. He came to say goodbye but you were asleep. The village is seeking refuse at Helm's Deep. We're packing our things and traveling with them," Aragorn softly explained. "Can you stand?"
I sat up in the small bed and with his help, I got off the bed and stood on my feet. I looked down at my right wrist and the red wrapping around it. Then I looked up at Aragorn. "Let's go," I said.
We walked through the castle and to the stables where many men saddled their horses. There was one horse that was giving them trouble. Aragorn asked Eowyn to stay with me and he slowly approached the horse in an attempt to calm it. He spoke to the horse in rough Elvish and showed the horse that it can trust him.
"His name is Brego," Eowyn said. "He was my cousins horse." Brego was still not liking the chaos around him. I approached him as well and let his neck. I looked into one of Brego's eyes and for a moment he calmed. But then he neighed and spooked again.
Aragorn tried again to calm him. He spoke to him with kind words and pet Brego until he finally calmed and trusted Aragorn. I leaned against the wood wall and wondered why I couldn't speak to the horse.
"Turn this fellow free," Aragorn said. "He has seen enough of war." Aragorn gave Eowyn the reins and then went back to looking for a saddle for his horse. I stayed by Eowyn. My mind was clouded by confusion.
"I have never seen the work of witches up close," Eowyn said. "But I have read stories. I've read stories about witches growing forests and teaching Elves to heal." I nodded at her. "Women are not really allowed to do anything in this world. I've always hated that. But those stories gave me hope. That a woman can do something powerful."
"Is there something you've always wanted to do?" I asked her. "Something worthy? Something a woman usually does not?"
"I want to fight. I want to ride a horse into battle and fight for my people, fight for my kingdom."
"Then be the first," I said with a smile.
