Crows and Chandeliers

"Hey! Guys! Are you still... here?"

Arriving at the cafeteria, Y/n is surprised to see it completely empty. Walking around, the woman finds a few cleaning supplies, mops, brooms and buckets with water and soap. Did they really somehow manage to clean all the windows? And would they even just leave everything just here? Some of the stuff was very obviously thrown haphazardly, and she can't imagine Yuuken leaving it like this.

'Maybe they went to take a break somewhere else, or forgot something in another room?'

Not in the mood to just wait around until they come back, if they come back at all, Y/n figures she might as well go looking for the two. It would be a good chance to try and get a feel to orient herself around the school.

Running through the halls, past the locked classrooms, it's eerily silent. Only the tapping of her shoes can be heard, and a part of the Devil Fruit user feels weird about it. She wouldn't describe it as unnerved, more as just not being used to it. She got used to the constant rambunctious spirits of the straw hats, there was always something going on, laughter, music or everyone eating together, chatting. Even at night when everyone was asleep, Y/n felt comfort from the sound of waves crashing up against the ship, and when she was on land it was the sound of nature instead.

Slowing down in her steps, Y/n comes to a complete stop and looks around. Groaning and disappointed in herself, the woman realizes she got so lost in thought that she stopped paying attention to where she was going and is now in a corridor she doesn't recognize. Sighing, the woman considers jumping out the window to start her search for Yuuken and Grim from the entrance of the school.

"Ah, miss Y/n!",

With her plans interrupted and probably canceled for now, the woman turns in the direction of the voice to see a familiar crowman offering her a closed eye smile,

"What a wonderful coincidence! I was hoping to run into you, could you join me for a bit?"

"Ehh, alright."

'Yuuken and Grim will probably pop up at some point, they'll be fine.'

Joining him, they walk through the empty halls of the school as the headmage begins making small talk, how he hopes she had a positive experience with the dorms so far. Though, he doesn't actually let Y/n give her opinion as he moves on to the next topic,

"We didn't get the opportunity to discuss it more last time, but could you tell me more about where you are from?"

Raising a brow and side eying him, the Devil Fruit user still answer honestly,

"The last places I stayed at were some lesser known islands and smaller Kingdoms that are more secluded. The more recent place I stayed at that's more recognizable was Dressrosa. But if you mean where I grew up, then near Foosha Village in the north blue, so I guess I'm from there."

"Oh, were you... born there as well?"

Crowley doesn't look in her direction as he asks, instead resting his gaze on the floor in front of him as he inquires. Y/n pauses for a moment, not expecting that question,

"Um... no, I wasn't. I'm not sure what island or village I was born on, why?"

Not giving her an answer to the simple question, the Headmage moves on and changes the subject once more,

"Ah! Now that I remember, I DID mean to ask about how exactly the letter came into your possession..."

Taking the hint that he wanted the woman to explain, she does so. But for a split second Y/n wonders if maybe she should hide the truth.
