MATTHEW STURNIOLO

warnings: none
summary: quiet moments with Matt

1:

The whole house had gone quite long ago. Each triplet reclusive in their own rooms. The night sky filters in through the open window. Short gusts of wind rattle the screen. It's almost louder than the TV. A few birds chip and hoot outside as well. It was open because it had rained earlier in the day leaving the ground wet and rain scented.

The TV played softly in the background yet neither of you payed attention to it, the both of you wrapped up in your own thoughts. You with you eyes scanning along the pages of a book you had forgotten about, one you read in early childhood and finally got your hands on again.

And Matt. He was lying on his side, writing in his twenty five dollar notebook passionately about his thoughts and feelings. You randomly sigh and look up from the book to Matt. He licks his lips before his eyes too look up at you. The heart eyes. You never understood what it meant when people talked about how there were literal hearts in the eyes of those who were in love. But here with Matt, you understood.

You lean up onto your elbow and run your fingers through his messy hair. He smiles lightly. Matt picks his pencil up again and continues writing. You don't stop playing with his hair, but do continue reading.

2:

Your lips press together smoothly. Molding together like a puzzle. Like a sculptor creating their finest work. His hands roam around from your cheeks down to your waist. He believed you looked beautiful. Sometimes you didn't see it. Mostly all the time though, but it'd always end up with Matt kissing the thoughts from your head. It made you dizzy instead. He leans back to glance into your eyes. You open them to do what he seems to want. His blue eyes meet yours and the world seems to stop for an eternity.

It feels like the world is yours. Like you're the only two people in the world. You had woken up accidentally. Three hours before either of you needed to. Now you were spending as much time all over each other before the day droned on. Matt leans in again. He presses wet lipped kisses to your neck leaving a trail behind them. Sighs of joyful content leave your lips. Your shoulders practically numb from how relaxed you felt.

If you weren't paying this much attention to him, you'd definitely fall asleep. Your eyes droop and close. Arms wrapped around his neck holding him closer. If this moment ended too soon, you feared you'd break into a thousand pieces. Yet you knew it had to. "Matt.." I whispered. He hums against my skin. His kisses lowered to my shoulder. He switched to the other side. "I need to shower." Matt whines, almost begging you to not shower. Your time was running out though. And soon Chris or nick would be banging on the door to their designated driver. He knew it too. So he detached his lips from your body regretfully and let you go.

"Who's is this?" You asked as you two did the laundry together. The three of the sturniolos really seemed to enjoy buying the most outrageous pieces of fashion. Mesh, cargo, tanks, sweaters, and sweatpants were common in their wardrobe. "That is Nicks babe," he replies quickly as he continues folding. You need and toss it into nicks growing pile. You had separated everything into piles, then to Matt to fold, then back to you to put into a basket to bring down or up. Chris had an orange basket. Nicks was white and Matt's was blue. It was a great system that you created. Made life a lot easier when there was a large pile up of laundry, Matt's chore, and all you wanted was to be held.

You hoist the orange bucket on your hip and drag it downstairs needing Chris to empty it since there was still another load to be done before dinner. As soon as you drop it off at Chris' door, you're up the stairs again to drag the other back up to nick. You drop that one off to before jogging down the stairs. You pass Matt who's putting the last load of laundry into the washing machine, trading the load before into the dryer.

You tear off your shirt and pants and exchange it for something much more comfortable. Matt's hoodie and his old shorts. You crumble into the sheets. There's a soft putter patter of rain coming down outside giving you this sense of serenity that was oh so desirable after helping Matt do laundry all day long. The sheets are wrapped all around you. You phone had been connected to the speaker playing a multitude of songs from your playlist. Now it was shuffling through Taylor Swifts Evermore, arguably one of her best sounding albums (Taylor x bon iver lover for life).

Only as the album droned on and on, it lulled you into a peaceful dreamless sleep. It was then when Matt finally crawled into bed with you. Nick had already ordered in some dinner for the four of you which would be dropped off within the next 30 minutes. So Matt didn't feel bad about taking a moment to just hold you.

4:

The warm water rushed against your strained shoulders. The jets rubbing directly at the knots in your back. Matt suggested about 10 minutes ago that the both of you should get into the hot tub. You, nick, Matt, and Chris were all taking a much needed social media break for the weekend. Staying at a nice hotel near the edge of a forest.

The sun lowered in the sky as you and Matt chatted casually. Slowly the moms left with their children leaving you and Matt alone. You played with his fingers under the water. His hair glistened from water droplets from when you dared him to submerge into the steaming water for a moment. Your hair twisted in an updo to keep the water from your long locks. Matt admired you. Once again looking your prettiest. So content.

"Where do you wanna move to?" He asks casually. It's a conversation you'd had many times, alone and with his brothers. Would they live in the same town? Close? Not at all? There were a million questions that the future held for them. But you didn't like answering those type of questions unless it was a necessity. So instead you shrugged. "Wherever you are is home." You'd said it every time before and you'll say it every time again in the future.

5:

Forks clinked against dishes as you and Matt sat across from each other. A fancy dinner restaurant being your date night location today. "Is it good?" Matt asked jokingly. You jump and glance up at Matt through your eyelashes. You had never been to Boston before. Much less out of California. You hadn't grown up with much. He'll, you hadn't even seen snow in real life before. Matt knew he had to get you to see some real snow. And he would, soon. He had taken you to the fanciest Boston restaurant he knew about. One his parents said was the best and often went there on their own date nights. So being here meant a lot to Matt.

Tonight was your two year anniversary. Crazy to think how two years ago you both got over yourselves and finally said you loved and needed each other. "Sorry." You mumbled dropping the fork down and grabbing your napkin to wipe the mess from your lipstick covered lips. Matt only laughs. "You wanna get out of here?"

Sure the restaurant was lovely. But neither of you were mature enough for fancy steaks and sauces and wine. You nodded. Matt opened up his wallet and dropped a $100 on the table before you both got up and grabbed each other's hands running out the front door. Couples mumbles about your childish behavior as you passed through the doorway but you ignored them.

They knew nothing.

Your jaw dropped though as soon as you stepped outside. It was like a literal miracle. Snow dropped casually from the night sky. The frozen water glistened from the moon and streetlights. Cars passed quickly on the road. The whole sidewalk already covered. Through the windows, you hadn't noticed it was snowing. "Matt it's snowing." You sighed wistfully. "Let's make a snow angel!" You looked at him with a wild look in your eye. Something he could never say no to. You didn't even need to say please. both of you drop to the floor there. Matt in slacks, a suit and tie. You in high heels and a long flowing dress.

The people inside watch you both with disdain. But it didn't matter. Cause no one inside was more in love than you and Matt.
