Rhea Fitzherbert has a great life, one she is very grateful for. She had her friends Talia, Audrey, and Ben- the future king. She also has an amazing boyfriend, Chad, although he seemed to be growing more distant lately As Ben's childhood best friend, she was offered the role of being his royal advisor.
Talia, the girl they both considered their little sister, was offered the role of the head of the royal guard. When word first got out about this people laughed, but Talia is someone you should never underestimate.
Rhea and Talia were currently sat on a sofa, quietly giggling at Ben as he was being measured for his coronation. "You ready to break the news, Benny Boo?" Rhea mocked the nickname his girlfriend gave him, she loved the girl but that nickname was the cringiest thing she has ever heard.
"I'm as ready as I'll ever be," the boy replied honestly, "you?"
"I'm not the one breaking the news, I'm just supporting you. Besides, if they don't agree now we wait a few months and then they don't have any say." The girl spoke as she ruffled Talia's hair.
"On that note," the youngest spoke up, "I'm leaving before Beauty and the Beast arrive and Beastie gets angry." She stood up and gave Rhea a hug and muttered into her ear, "I'll see you back in the dorms, love you." She then turned to Ben and waved, "Good luck, Beastie jr, love ya!" With that, she happily skipped out of the room just in time to miss the king and queen.
Rhea watched her leave fondly before looking to her other friend, noticing he looked visibly shaken, "Don't worry, Ben, the worst that can happen is they say no. If that is the case the four of them will be over the month after your coronation. I swear my life on it, these kids will get a better future."
"Thank you, Rhea." The boy smiled at her, thankful he chose the best person possible to be his royal advisor and best friend.
At that moment he king and queen entered the room, "Sorry we're late." Belle apologised although it was quite inevitable they would be late due to the meeting held prior to Ben's fitting.
"How is it possible that you're gonna be crowned king next month? You're just a baby!" King Adam exclaimed as his wife lightly shook her head.
"He's turning 16, dear." She reminded her husband.
"16? That's far too young to be crowned king. I didn't make a good decision until I was at least 42." Adam spoke and Rhea suppressed a giggle as she knew what Belle was going to say next.
"Uh, you decided to marry me at 28."
"Ah, it was either you or a teapot." He said as the teenage duo laughed while his wife gave him a stern look, "Kidding."
"Mom, Dad..." Ben trailed off and looked at his friend for support, who shot him a pair of supportive thumbs up, "I've -we've- chosen my first official proclamation. We've decided that the children on the Isle of the Lost be given a chance... to live here in Auradon. Every time I look out to the island, I feel like they've been abandoned."
The married couple looked horrified, "The children of our sworn enemies, living among us?"
"We start out with a few at first," Rhea interjected before Adam could try talk his son out of his first proclamation, "only the ones who need our help the most. We've already chosen them."
"Have you?" The older man asked sourly.
"I gave you a second chance." His wife reminded him, "Who are their parents?" she asked her son.
"Cruella De Vil... Jafar... Evil Queen... and Maleficent." At the last name the man in charge of the fitting yelped in shock.
"Maleficent! She is the worst villain in the land!" The king all but roared.
"Dad, just hear me out here!" Ben begged.
"I won't hear of it. They are guilty of unspeakable crimes!"
"Dad, their children are innocent. Don't you think they deserve a shot at a normal life? Dad?"
"I suppose their children are innocent." The beast caved.
"Well, well done. Shall we?" Belle spoke before the couple left the room. The man measuring Ben also hurried out after them.
"Well done, Ben, you did it!" Rhea exclaimed as she walked over to him and threw her arms around him.
"We did it, Rhea."

first chapter completed march 30th 2024!! it is defo going to take an embarrassingly long time to write this book and I want a good few chapters written before this gets published so... it might be a while before you read this.
okay it is now july 24th (better than anticipated) and im beginning to release this book! i have the first eight or so chapters completed so hopefully i'll be able to stick to a uniform publishing schedule
