it was wednesday, the day before my birthday, my mom had pushed me enough to get my license yesterday.

i was outside with my mom, my arms up on the edge of the pool while stormy ran around in the grass.

she was typing away on her phone, which she had been doing for days, not letting me see who she was texting.

"who are you texting?" i asked.
"don't worry about it" she replied.

i frowned, pulling myself up out of the pool while stormy ran at me.

i scooped her up and sat down beside my mom, peering over at her phone.

"stop!" she said, tilting her phone.

i groaned and set stormy down on the ground, watching her run up on my moms chair, whining at her to pick her up.

"take her for a walk" my mom spoke.
"now? why?" i asked.
"i'm gonna have Tyler over. i have to tell him today." she said.
"alright."

i dried myself off and put a shirt on before going inside, stormy following behind me as i grabbed her leash.

there was a knock at the door, making stormy bark and run up to the door.

i opened it and Tyler greeted me, his red camaro sitting in our driveway.

"hey. how are you?" he asked.
"good. you?" i asked, dapping him up.
"i'm good." he replied.

we sat in an awkward silence for a couple seconds before i spoke again.

"well! i'm gonna take her for a walk so...maybe i'll see you later" i said.

he nodded with a smile and i let him inside, closing the door behind me after i left.

stormy was eager to run, pulling on her leash and jumping forward.

"stop!" i said, laughing.

i pulled my phone out, texting billie.

wyd?

nothing. why?

can i come over?

are you walking?

yup.

hurry up

i turned my phone off and put it in my pocket, continuing to head towards billie's house.

it was only around 7, the sun was setting, peeking through the trees and illuminating the sidewalk.

billie's house was just a couple blocks away, i didn't really know her address i just knew how to get there and to look for her infamous dodge challenger.

i found myself distracted, thinking of billie and what we said the other night.

she loves me. usually i'd be stoked to hear a girl tell me they love me but it's different with billie because i know we can't be together.

she even said it herself she's not supposed to love me but she can't help it. and neither can i. there's just something about her that i'm drawn to.
