It took Piper, Leo and Jason to hold back Coach. I just stood slightly to the side.
I was still shocked from the encounter with Coach. While with Medea I was under the impression that everyone at Camp had just forgotten about me. Then when Jason had recognised me from Annabeth's description, I had realised that maybe my best friends still missed me.
But basically being a famous hero in Coach's eyes? That I had not been expecting.
How would people even react if I returned to Camp? Would they even believe it was me? Would they hate me for never trying to escape Medea?
I was snapped out of my thoughts by Jason's words.
"Woah, Coach. Bring it down a few notches."
A younger man charged into the room. I guessed he was the old man's son, Lit. He was dressed in pyjama bottoms with a sleeveless T-shirt that said Cornhuskers and he held a sword that looked like it could husk a lot more things besides corn. His arms were muscular and covered in scars and his face, framed by dark curly hair, might've been handsome if it wasn't so sliced up.
Lit immediately zeroed in on Jason like he was the biggest threat and stalked towards him, swinging his sword overhead. I frowned.
"Why're you going for him?" I asked.
Lit paused and turned to me, as did everyone else.
"What?" I asked. "You're acting like he's the biggest threat here. Is it because he's a boy?"
Lit frowned. "He's also a boy." He pointed to Leo.
I nodded. "Is it because he's a white boy like you and you feel the need to assert dominance as there are females present?"
Lit gaped.
"Do you like the patriarchy?" I folded my arms. "Because if so-"
"What's the patriarchy?" Lit asked slowly, glancing back at his father, perplexed.
I leaned down to the floor and quickly drew the same pattern I had earlier, a moon between two half-moons encircled, before pressing my hand to it. There was a blue flash of light and my axe appeared. "He's playing dumb." I said pointing my axe to him. "I think he likes the patriarchy."
Piper walked over to me and lowered the axe to my side. "Right, why don't we just-"
"Follow up question." I said, lifting the axe to point at Lit once again. "Do you like the patriarchy so much that you like men?"
"I still don't really understand-"
"Do you like men being in power so much that you like men in power over you? Do you like men? Are you attracted to men?"
"Are you really asking about his sexuality right now?" Leo asked, a grin forming.
"There could be other reasons why he went straight for Jason." I squinted at Lit. I rubbed a hand over my face and sighed. "Sorry, I meant gay for Jason, straight doesn't fit the situation."
Leo started laughing as both Lit and Jason stared at me dumbfounded.
Piper snorted behind me before lowering my axe once again. "Okay." She said, trying to keep a straight face. "I think this is a bit of a misunderstanding, we can just leave now?"
"No, no." The old guy took a step into the room. "You're here now you might as well stay a bit. Also, your friend is rather funny, are you a jester dear?"
"Oh, I was dead serious. I want to know if he's gay now."
"That's what she was asking?" Lit asked, still looking bewildered.
