Lunch.

Ugh. Lynn had two dollars clenched in her hand, Carrie had forgotten lunch money so she was using the last of her taxi fare. People pushed and shoved their way through the lunch line but eventually managed to pick up a sandwich. $3.

Forget lunch. There was an empty table still in the canteen, however, two seconds after she had sat down Clyde sild next to Lynn and all his friends followed.

One of Clyde's friends, Luke, from what she had seen, is the most popular guy at school and next to him, stroking his arm was a short blonde girl. In Lynn's opinion, she was wearing to much make-up but that was her opinion of all the girls she had seen in the college so far.

Luke caught her attention. "Hey, uh what's your name, sorry?"

"Lynn" she said looking down at the table in the empty space were food should be.

"Well Lynn, seeing that you are clearly new we might as well get to know ya" Luke said. Clyde gave her small nudge with his elbow. She knows that he is only trying to help her get into a crowd but she just wanted to be alone and to get her head around her new life.

"What would you like to know?" Lynn said in a small voice.

The girl next to Luke spoke up "Well first, who is your mother? I'm Tess by the way.".

"Um, my mother, is uh, Carrie... Leon" Lynn stumbles.

Tess continues, "but your last name is Stevenson"

"Yes, when my mum and dad divorced she took back her maiden name"

"And-" began Tess but Luke cut in.

"Where are you from? it's just you have a strange but nice accent"

"I uh, England" Lynn replied.

Tess clearly showed a very strong unlike and distrust to Lynn just after she said that. Did she have some sort of prejudice against British people?

The others all turned to their own conversations but Clyde continued to look at Lynn, she had ginger her that subtly hid her face from above, she was clearly very uncomfortable here and he felt terrible that he had made her do this.

Clyde noticed that Lynn kept staring with her head down at the empty table in front of her, he noticed she had no food. Taking half a homemade ham sandwich his mum had made, he put the other half in front of Lynn.

She looked up and he just smiled, but indicated that it was for her.

"Thank you" she said.

"No problem. But can I ask why you did have anything before?" he questioned.

"My mother did not give me any money, or tell me to pack a lunch, so all I have left is this" Lynn says, holding up her last two dollars.

"That is all you have?!" Clyde half whispers half shouts. Lynn confirms and he sighs, he had spent $60 on a new skateboard just because, she couldn't buy food and had a mother that irresponsible.

His friends had all but forgot they were there, so Clyde offered to Lynn for them to get a head start on the art project since the next lesson was a free period.

They get up and head to the art rooms.
