𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 middle of the night and I couldn't get to sleep so I ended up at the rink. I knocked on the doors a few times before George answered. I held a warm coffee in my hands in hopes it would bribe him to let me in.

He sighed heavily as he opened the front doors, "The rink doesn't open until 5:00am." He reminded me.

I sent him a mischievous smile as I held up the coffee for him to take, "It's 5:00am somewhere, George."

He rolled his eyes, taking the coffee from my grasp and letting me inside.

I quickly changed into my skate clothing before stepping on the ice. Being on the ice was like breathing, I couldn't live without it.

My routine was suddenly interrupted when the lights turned on. I froze, glancing around the rink until I noticed Dasha watching me.

I rolled my eyes at the woman, making my way off the rink, "Are you trying to kill an old lady?" She scoffed in disbelief, "What you just did, that was remarkable." She reached into her pocket and handed me a card, "My contact information. For when you change your mind."

"I'm sorry," I breathed out, "I don't think I can do it."

"I can get you back to where you need to be." She reassured me, "I'm not taking no for an answer. You were born to skate." I only hummed in response before leaving the rink.

𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓, 𝐈 ended up at Serena's. I laid across her bed, deep in thought. I was considering saying yes to Dasha, but I was terrified of falling again.

"Mae," The blonde spoke up.

I cut her off, "I know what you're gonna say."

"Then let me say it." She spoke up, "I don't want you to throw away an opportunity."

I rolled my eyes, "What opportunity, exactly?" I rolled over so I was now laying on my stomach with my feet in the air.

"I think you should be Justin's partner," She told me, "Your an amazing pair skater and Justin is no Joseph Whitlock."

I scoffed, "That's what everyone keeps saying."

"Exactly," She nodded, "You and Justin would be perfect partners. Come on. I know you can do it."

I bit my lip, "Do you really think so?"

"Yes," She yelled, "Come on, Mae. I know you can do it. You're the best skater in that rink and the best pair skater. Don't throw it all away from one little incident."

I sighed heavily. "Okay,"
