Saturday morning dawned, casting a warm glow over Los Angeles. Maya woke up with a sense of excitement bubbling within her. Today was her brunch date with Ethan, and she was excited to spend more time with him outside the office.
After a quick shower, Maya stood in front of her closet, pondering what to wear. She settled on a flowing linen dress in a soft shade of pink, its fabric swaying gently with each step. She paired with white strappy heels that wrapped delicately around her ankles and a light brown large-brimmed hat. Her curly hair cascaded down her shoulders, and light makeup enhanced her natural beauty. She glanced at herself in the mirror one last time with a satisfied smile gracing her lips and headed out of her apartment.
Descending the stairs toward the garage, she noticed the stark contrast between the warmth of the morning sunlight and the cool darkness of the underground parking lot.
The dimly lit space made Maya's heart race slightly, and unease crept into her mind. She quickened her pace, her heels echoing against the concrete floor as she passed the rows of parked cars.
Maya slipped into the driver's seat and sighed in relief as she closed the door behind her. The soft click of the lock echoed in the confined space. She took a moment to collect herself, tightly gripping the steering wheel. Today was going to be a good day, she reminded herself, pushing aside any anxious feelings.
Maya was lucky to find a parking spot only a block from the restaurant. She spotted Ethan waiting for her outside the restaurant. A smile spread across her face as she approached him, her heart pausing at the sight of him. He looked handsome in his dark blue polo, light jeans, and brown shoes, completing his casual yet stylish ensemble.
"Hey there," Ethan greeted her warmly, his eyes lighting up as he took in her appearance. "You look...stunning."
Maya's cheeks flushed with color at the compliment, a pleased smile gracing her lips. "Thank you," she replied, her voice soft with gratitude. She gifted him a kiss on the cheek as she felt his arm wrap around her back and press her against his body.
"Shall we?" Ethan offered his arm and threw her a playful wink.
"Lead the way." Maya gladly accepted, relishing the warmth of his touch as they made their way inside the restaurant.
Ethan led Maya to a table on the patio, his hand resting gently on her back as he guided her forward. The subtle warmth of his touch sent a pleasant shiver down her spine.
They settled into their seats, the comfortable silence between them. Maya glanced around the patio, taking in the charming surroundings with wonder. The sound of laughter and chatter of the other patrons created a lively atmosphere.
Their waitress approached with a friendly smile, handing them the menus and taking their drink orders. Maya and Ethan exchanged a glance before unintentionally speaking at the same time.
"Can we..."
"We'd Like..."
Maya and Ethan exchanged a brief, amused glance before laughing at their synchronicity.
"Sorry," Maya said with a playful smile, gesturing for Ethan to go first.
Ethan chuckled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "No, please, ladies, first."
Maya grinned, appreciating Ethan's gentlemanly gesture. "Alright then. We want to start with a pitcher of mimosas, please," she said, her voice tinged with excitement at the prospect of indulging in the bubbly, citrusy drink.
The waitress nodded, scribbling down their order with a smile. "Of course, I'll have that right out for you." Maya watched her go with a smile, feeling a sense of anticipation building in the air.
