[Part 10]

Marcy’s P.O.V

It had been days since we came into this world, and I wasn’t complaining one bit. For one, I had my powers to experiment and discover. For one, I had my powers to experiment and discover. For two, I had Dante and Vergil. I had the two major crushes of my life before me, and they were stuck with me, at least until my big brother found a way to kill Lucifer, save Sparda, and get us out.

Damon was going the strongest here, since he had been in the same situation before. Granted, he had lots of frowns and growls, but he was working hard for us, so I did my best to appease him by either controlling myself, or just controlling Daniel.

Ever since Damon told him that they both had Sparda’s power, Daniel had been testing the extent of his powers endlessly, from lifting random things to see how strong he actually was, to slitting his wrist to see how fast he could actually heal. The latter almost scared the crap out of me. You would think a twenty-five year old would have some form of sense I him. Apparently, it wasn’t working from Daniel, and sometimes, I think that I was acting the role of Daniel’s big sister rather than his younger sister.

“Try it again, this time with a little more power. You need to control it tightly, but know when to let go at the same time.”

I nodded quickly, having been jerked out of my reverie. I was at a desolate part of the town where Vergil practiced his skills and power. It was easy to see how much Vergil utilized this place. He had dummies for combat fight; he had designated spots with extremely many scratches on the walls and floor in which he practiced with his sword.

It had come as a surprise to me when Vergil offered to reveal his secret hideout to me. I had merely gone up to him, in hopes of learning how to do the summoning swords skills, since I wasn’t exactly comfortable with guns. Of course, I wouldn’t mind Ebony and Ivory, but it was better for me to learn something I wouldn’t have to lug around.

Facing another dummy, I took a deep breath, and pulled my power in. taking Vergil’s strict teaching in mind, I controlled the power carefully, trying my best not to let it slip through my fingers. Summoning swords was the easy part. Directing them to a target was the true horror.

The power went rampant under my fingertips as I tried my best to direct them to the dummy. Then an amazing thing happened.

My summoned sword flew.

The problem? It felt the wrong way. Instead of making towards the dummy, it went the other way behind us.

Turning around simultaneously, we watched as the sword hit the wall, rebound, and turn back at us. I froze, unknowing of what to do. In my freezing, I forgot one important thing. I was the one supplying the sword with power.

The speed at which that thing made towards me shocked me so much that I couldn’t think straight. The only thing I could think of was if I would ever see Damon, Daniel, Trish and Vergil again. Someone tackled me to the side, arms strongly pinning me down around my waist as the sword tacked in straight over the dummy’s heart. I didn’t waste time marveling my sword’s impeccable aiming, content to be shocked and trying my best to understand what happened.

“Marcy! Are you alright?” Vergil’s panicked voice sounded.

I did a quick mental checkup, ignoring the little bruise I must have received when Vergil knocked me down. Compared to the possibility of my own summoned sword protruding from my chest, impaled in my heart, the bruise was just a child’s play.

“I’m alright. I’m so sorry, Vergil. I could have killed us both. Maybe I should just stop. Maybe I’m not cut out for this. I don’t want you to get hurt teaching an idiot like me…” I blabbered in my shock, fading away in my words when Vergil’s strong arm turned me on my back, till he was on his fours over me, and I was stuck beneath him.
