[Part 20]

Falling down to hell was a strange sensation, but at least I had a soft landing, in which I meant by falling on top of a cursing Dante.

The man, stuck in his chains, couldn’t turn around to skewer me to bits as I took my time to regain my bearings, letting my weight off him only after I was done.

“Watch your stupid fall, you idiot! No wonder we got caught by this stupid demon-thing. It’s your entire stupid fault!” Dante gave me a kick, presumable for the landing I couldn’t control. It sure took the man fast enough to get into act; by the fact that the four of us had actually been caught by Trickster. Behind me, the portal closed, and someone else kicked up –this time with more force and intent.

“Move quickly if you want your life to end neatly.” Trickster rhymed, but this time there was no lyrical tone. It was a Trickster who was serious, who meant business.

Trish fell into step with my quickly, and we went to our agreed formation, with me and Trish at the front, Dante and Daniel covering the back while Vergil covered the left and Trickster kept our right free. Marcy didn’t exactly see it yet, but it was also a ruse to keep her safely in the middle. I had never really been in Hell before, but it sure looked as demented and creepy as I had thought.

Skies were no color of blue, but a fresh blood red. Clouds were black and the colors were reciprocated on the ground, perhaps in different shades, but still the same two dominant color. If one wasn’t careful, he would think that he was the one who had gotten severely color deficient instead of blaming it on the environment.

A gray stone path cut through the plain fields of red-black grass, and watching it wind down, it led to a humongous building made of the same shade of color. Sharp angles gave the infrastructure a quaint appearance and there seemed to even have a balcony. Not so much of an ancient castle –as I had somehow expected from Hell –but an enormously oversized mansion. I wasn’t sure if I should be jealous at its size as compared to my mansion, but Daniel did whistle in awe.

“Don’t be an idiot. It’s just an illusion to deceive retards like you.” Dante flicked my brother on the head and my brother glared back with ferocity.

Daniel was ready to loop his tied up hands over his doppelganger’s neck but Trickster had other thoughts. With a slice between the two of them, Daniel went tumbling into a portal, leaving us all shocked at the sudden movement and disappearance.

“Where is he?” I demanded after he didn’t reappear after a short awhile. Trickster had said he would pretend to harm us, but he hadn’t said anything about him transporting us away and separating us. In this world, the six of us were better of sticking together than separately, especially so for Marcy and Daniel who were both unused to using their powers to killing demons.

“With his binds, in Lucifer’s chamber, himself he will find. To your brother it seems like keeping a shut his mouth, is like bringing forth a large drouth. Thus to his own he will have his silence, and he will duly be punished for his own defiance.” Trickster barely gave me a raking glance, turning to lead us down towards the mansion, but I wasn’t about to stay around accepting cryptic answers like this. Alliance or not, no one was going to leave me in suspense as to where they had sent my brother.

“Tell me!” I demanded, taking a step forwards towards him, not exactly sure what I could do to him with my hands bound at my wrist, but just wanting to do something. Instead, I was stopped when a katana –looking very much like Yamato –pointed at my throat, stopping me in my footsteps.

“You will stay away from me if you are wise, or a certain salvation I cannot guarantee to your demise.” He said briskly, pushing the sword gently on my throat, drawing a little blood to show that he wasn’t joking before he kept it again, taking his place to lead us.
