Lidia: Well kid take those gloves off, its time to work.
Alexander: I can't.
Lidia: What did you just say?
Alexander: I said no, I won't.
Lidia: Boy, don't blame me if you burn because of those things.
He looks at his gloves his father had given him. They were to seal of my power . Would they burn? No. No, they couldn't.
Lidia: Okay, get your butt outside.
He goes outside next to the forge and saw the flames of the force with a pool of tamed water next to it to cool the metal after it is shaped in the forge. There was a workbench next to the wall and a spot for making hides next to that.
Lidia: Are you ready to learn?
She puts her arms behind her head and stretched her arms.
Alexander: I guess.
Lidia: Okay, here.
She handed him some materials to make a simple dagger.they consisted of a slang of iron and leather ropes.
Lidia: I want you to shape the iron into a blade and rope the end with these strip of leather.
He walked up to the forge having no idea what he was doing. He saw a tool to place the iron directly in the fire to melt it, so he used that.
The light from the flames flickered off of his face in the darkness. He pulled the melted iron out of the flame. It had a bright red glow. Before he could even think he grabbed a hammer and was shaping it.
When he got the shape of a dagger he stuck it in the water. A puff of steam flew up in his face. He pulled the blade out and wrapped the handle with the leather stripes and showed it to Lidia.
Lidia: I haven't even taught you anything and you already picked it up this fast.
She examined the dagger. The dagger had slight chips and rugged edges around the edge of the blade.
Lidia: Humm it could use some sharpening. Let's see how you do with that.
He looked around and saw the blade sharpener. It was a small equipment. A rock and a chair.
He sat in the chair and used his foot to spin the rock with a lever. He placed the blade adjust it and sparks shout out at him. He shaped the other sides of the dagger and thine it out. The rock slowly stopped spinning.
The dagger had a shine to it. It looked like it was made by a professional, but he was just a beginner.
He showed it to Lidia
Lidia: You're exactly like your mother in this. A natural learner.
He hadn't heard about his mom for a long while and to hear he was like her in something was a joy to his ears.
Lidia: Well get inside we don't need the guards asking anything.
Alexander: Okay.
A few minutes later they were laying in beds. Lidia bed next to the pile of ore and Alexander bed next to the fire.
Alexander: Hey Lidia.
She was laying on her side facing away from him.
Lidia: What is it?
Alexander: What was my mother like?
Lidia: Go to bed boy, I'll tell you later.
To be continued. ....
