Dark soon came and they camped near a ledge on the mountain to their right. Rain clouds swept in as is common in the countryside. They were lucky finding a cover for the horses, carriage, and a small fire for the three of them. The rain fell hard as the flame flickered in between them.
Silf: Hey.
Alexander: Ya?
Gray looked at her curiously.
Silf: let's tell ghost stories.
Alexander: Um, okay sure why not.
Silf: Yay.
Lightning flashed. The light showed like a dim torch outside the ledge.
Silf: Okay * she jumped up * I'll start.
They could tell she was thinking about a story to tell.
Silf: Okay,..... this is a true story. I heard it when I was a little girl. In my village * her tone got serious * it actually happened.
There was a long pause and thunder boomed. They listened intently. The storm made it almost impossible not to have at least a bit of fear in them already.
Silf: Three houses down from mine it happened. In that house, there were five people. A mother, father, and three children. I used to play with them every day. One day the family just dispersed. No trace of their existence was there. All that people could tell that they lived there was from their memories.
Lightning flashed followed by a roaring of thunder.
Silf: Me being the curious child I went into the house late one night when the town was asleep. What was there was unbelievable. Light blue figures gathered around the children and my's secret spot under the stairs where it was hard to get into. You had to pull one of the stairs out to get in it.
Lightning flashed again.
Silf: They stared at me with empty eyes. I heard water dripping. It sounded like it was from the upstairs. So I walked up to their and what I saw ..... all their bodies. .... that dark creature...... all the blood...
She caught her breath as thunder boomed making them all jump.
Silf: I managed to escape. * she starts lieing here * But it saw me. And ever since then I could feel it had been following me...
Lightning struck right outside the cave make their visions go white. When their visions cleared Silf was gone.
Alexander: Ya funny joke.
Gray looked around. He couldn't see her anywhere
Gray: Maybe the creature found her.
Alexander: Don't say that.
Out of nowhere, the both were tapped on the shoulders by none other than Silf.
Silf: Boo!
The fell forward. Silf really had got them.
Silf: hahaha I got you, I got you.
Alexander: Not funny.
Silf: Oh come on, it was funny.
Alexander: We thought something seriously bad happened to you.
Silf: I'm sorry .... well I think that was enough stories for the night.
Gray: Ya.
They all laid in the hay on the carriage. Silf had her hammer on the ground next to the carriage. Often a few minutes all of them drifted off to sleep.
To be continued ......
AN: I have no idea how I came up with that story Silf told. How did I do it? I think the lighting was a great part. What's your opinion on it? I'll love to hear.
