In the previous Chapter: (Chapter 26: Trouble with a Twist"), right after a date with Demona gone wrong, a fight between the psychotic female raccoon and Royce that nearly costed him his life but used some seriously-strong CS (pepper-spray) gas against Demona. Resulting in her being forced into submission, right before she leaving, and then Carmelita (and Porsche) began attempting to interrogate Royce. Only to get no response,  just some strange behavior. Now, he and Haley are both about to enter the Ancestral Palace together.

Haley: "Are you sure about this, Dad? Going inside this unknown, lavishly, beautiful, awe-inspiring, and "wonderfully-rich Ancestral Palace" with a lot of strangers, lots of strangers, with more than the potential, if not possibility of being BEYOND-DANGEROUS?"

Royce: "Listen Haley, I understand where you are coming from, I really do; just- please promise me this: This Crime Lord, and his bodyguards are trying to look "beyond innocent" so if anyone or anything comes up as "suspicious", then it's well... game-over for those or anyone who begins to stir up trouble and cause a scene, even if it's one of their own; they want to look "legit", know what I mean? Now then, should we continue on...?"

Haley: "I- uh... I guess so, but, I~ I don't know how to properly "dance" like a lot of (the [many] other) strangers in there." Haley confesses about her lack in ability at dancing, and how insecure she felt involving strangers, "and then, there was this guy that had a very, uh... passionate- yeah, passionate, voice, and he was also dancing so, so elegantly with this Jet-Black and Red-tailed female raccoon. And I thought the two of them were in perfect sync as they performed together!"

Royce: "I bet they were, too, Haley..."

Haley: "You don't believe me, do you?!, I can tell that you don't believe me, I know it. Even your own facial expressions say so too, and I can tell by the sound of your voices, so much for trying to deceive me here!"

Royce: "Ouch, pretty touching. You know words hurt worse than ([the] sharpest) blades, right?!"

Haley: "But I didn't mean~"

Royce: "You knew what you meant, and that harmed me to the core; but let's at least enjoy going inside the Palace and maybe a little dance, okay?"

Haley: "If you say so..."

Royce: "Just trust me; you and I, we'll be fine in there!"

Haley: "Promise?"

Royce: "...As long as nobody causes any trouble, including us; but I can't say the same thing about the band members that might, or might not be playing tonight!"

Haley: "Why not, Dad?" Haley only raises an eyebrow, "Is it that serious?"

Royce: "Uh, yeah, someone's reputation would be more than at stake, and that's just the tip of the iceberg!"

Haley: "It gets worse?!"

Royce: "Yes, if someone has a warrant for their arrest, including whatever charges, number of charges, the degree, and so on; even being an undercover officer or Agent of the law (or not) is incredibly dangerous."

Haley: "So why are you not taking someone who is more 'experienced' in this, other than me? Like my Aunt Carmelita, or my mother? They know how to blend in, and easily go undercover, I don't. So why bother bringing me?"
