The surgery had been beyond amazing. He had let her basically preform the whole thing herself, checking in every so often to make sure she was okay. He found herself looking at her eyes, remembering all of the things they used to be.

"What do you want?" She asked, smiling slightly.
"You make out with patients now?" He asked.
"What are you? Jealous?" She asked curiously.
"I don't get jealous." He said, walking in and shutting the door.
"We had sex, once." She rolled her eyes, turned around.
"We kissed in an elevator." He said, raising his eyebrow.
"And we kissed in an elevator once." She replied condescendingly.
"No seriously, come on go out with me." He gestured.
"No!" She laughed lightly.

"You know I am died today....Yeah I came like this close." He said, putting his hands a few inches apart. "How would you feel if I died, and you didn't get a chance to go out with me?"

"Get over yourself already." She rolled her eyes.
"Come on!!!" He laughed.

"Dr. Shepherd?" She asked, pulling him from his memories.
"Yes?" He asked. "How's it going, Mer?"
"Good, I just, I'm not sure where to cut." She said.

Her heart had jumped slightly when he used the shortened name that only a few people did. It was like music to her ears and nothing they had ever done could ever live up to hearing that come out of his mouth.

"Do you have visualization of the disks?" He asked.
"Yes." She nodded as he came around the table.

His hands gently held her forearms, bringing her scissors to a spot behind the disks. She looked up at him when she felt tension along a ligament.

"You feel that?" He asked. "It's slight, but it's there."
"Yeah." She nodded, and then she snapped it, relieved.
"Yeah." He grinned, "You just did flew solo Dr. Grey."

He stepped back and she closed up, taking him off the morphine and Derek filled out surgical papers on the elevator ride back. When Dr. Sherman was back in his room, Meredith smiled and she and Derek walked up to the attending's lounge.

"I've never been in here." She said.
"It's not that special, I promise." He laughed.
"You have no lockers and a coffee machine." She smirked.
"You can pour some coffee out." He suggested.

He pulled on his jacket and she handed him a coffee before sipping hers. He grinned and gently reached out, taking her free hand and pulling her out of the lounge and into the stairwell.

"Where are you taking me?" She asked as they walked up the stairs. He opened the door to the roof, and placed the coffee on the edge of the roof before checking his watch.

"Come here." He said, taking the coffee from her hand before holding her hands.

"That was so amazing." She grinned.
"You are excellent. In there and out..." He smiled.
"I haven't been excited like that in..." She started.

His hands rested on her cheeks and his lips touched hers. She kissed him back, hard, her hands moving up. His arms wrapped around her waist and lifted her up into his arms.

She let out a moan and he pressed her up against the outside wall of the stairwell. He made her skin tingle, and the butterflies in her stomach explode. She gripped his hair and she shivered as he set her down.

"It's 4 in the morning." His breath was shaking and his body was pressing against hers. He felt himself slipping further and further into this deep space of comfort.

She was shaking and he took off his jacket. She let him pull it around her shoulders and smiled. He helped her untuck her hair from his jacket and kissed her again. It was much more romantic this time and she felt her legs shake slightly with nerves.

She kissed him back again, the scent of his cologne making it hard to breathe. Before they knew what was happening, the jacket was on the cement roof and he laid her on top of it. He laid over her and kissed her clothes off, slowly, taking his time.

It wasn't as cold with him over her body. His kisses trailed to her neck and he gently bit it, making her legs wrap around his torso. She felt the creases of the muscles in his back as he groaned.

"When he wakes up, Dr. Sherman is going to talk." He whispered into her ear, a small chuckle leaving his mouth. She grinned and nodded, moaning quietly. "You did it Meredith."

His words made her breathing heavy and she gripped his scrubs, pulling it off over his head. He was shirtless and sprawled over him. She smiled against him, and laughed as she looked deep into his eyes. He had that look in his eyes, that pleasurable gentle gaze that would make her heart jump.

She rolled over him and he laughed as he leaned up, taking off her light blue scrub top. His hand found her bra clip and opened it, tugging it off her chest. She smiled as he kissed her cleavage, his stubble tickling her. They rolled around for a few minutes, taking off the rest of their clothes.

She gasped as he slid into her, his hands shaking as he held her waist. Their breathing was trembling, and they held each other as tight as they could. Her hands tangled in his hair that slipped between her fingers. He was kissing her chest, his tongue pleasing her nipples. His heart had already broke through his ribs, and the faster he went, the more pleasure he felt.

"Derek..." She moaned softly, pulling him up. Their lips crashed together and their tongues danced for a few minutes. When he pulled away, he saw the state he had left her lips. Red and swollen. His groans began to get louder and she smiled as held his jaw, scratching his stubble.

"Mer." His jaw clenched and she nodded, telling him she was ready. He let it all go, his moans and she moaned, leaving music in his ears till they fell back, tangled on the roof. She shivered and he leaned over her, pulling his jacket around her. They weren't sweating but they should have been.

"Look at that." He grinned, pointing to the sky.
"It's the sunrise." She smiled, kissing his shoulder.
"There's no one else I'd rather be here with." He chuckled.

She brought her hand up to his ear, tucking his hair behind it and smiling. She grazed her teeth along it and he smiled.

His pager started to ring and he groaned, reaching for it and sighing. It was time for rounds. 5:00 AM. She got up, pulling on her bra and panties before pulling on scrubs. He followed her, pulling on his boxer briefs and then his navy scrubs.

"Damn it. Coffee is cold." He sighed, picking it up.
"Derek." She said, as he put down the coffee.
"I should have left it on the ground, not the edge." He muttered.

They got into the elevator and she left him at the first floor and their morning wasn't talked about again.
