Reyna sat down in her chair and hit play on her phonograph. She was in her villa, relaxing after a day of intense training. And since demigods couldn't use phones, she had asked the Vulcan kids to make her a phonograph. Spanish music that Reyna had grown up hearing came pouring out and she listened.

"Hola Reyna!" A voice interrupted. Reyna turned around to see someone she'd never thought she'd see again. A memory suddenly pops into her mind.
The warm sun beams on her back as she walks through the marketplace with Hylla. Her sister takes her by the hand and leads her to a male street vendor.
"¿Cuánto por una taza de flan?(How much for one cup of flan?)" Hylla asks the man.
"3 dólares.(3 dollars.)" The man replies. Hylla rummages through her bag for cash and then hands the man the money. They walk off, and Reyna can't wait to get home and eat the flan, even if she has to face her father. As they reach the house, an angry yell comes from the home of the Ramírez-Arellanos.
"Reyna, quédate aquí. Yo me ocuparé del padre.(Reyna, stay here. I'll deal with Father.)" Hylla says gently but firmly. Reyna is left standing alone on the cobblestone street. More shouts erupt from their house and Reyna considers going in after her sister.
"Hola..."(Hello...) A girl suddenly walks toward her shyly. The girl has warm chestnut eyes, light cinnamon colored skin, and super curly brown locks.
"Hola. ¿Cómo es que nunca te había visto antes?(Hello. How come I've never seen you before?)" Reyna asks.
"Me acabo de mudar aquí desde Ecuador.(I just moved here from Ecuador.)" The girl replied.
"Qué lindo. Soy Reyna, ¿cómo te llamas?(That's nice. I'm Reyna, what's your name?)" Reyna introduced.
" Mi nombre es esmeralda.(My name is Esmeralda.)" Esmeralda said. They spent the rest of the day together, exploring the market. When they got hungry, they shared the flan.
The day faded and it started to get dark. Reyna said goodbye to Esme and went inside her house, only to find her father in a rage and Hylla with a bruise on her face.
A week later, her father falls prey to the ghosts-mania-that live inside their walls. He becomes one of them, and can somehow still move items. He attacks Hylla and she falls to the ground, unmoving. Reyna screams and grabs the first thing that she sees; an Imperial Gold sword. She stabs him and sinks to the ground, sobbing as she sees the remains of her father disappear.
Eventually, Hylla wakes up from unconsciousness and packs their things. They leave the house and take a taxi to the airport in the nearby city. Reyna presses her tear-stained face against the window and catches a glance of Esme, watering some plants, her back turned.
That was the last time Reyna ever saw her.
"Esme?" Reyna asked unbelievably. Esmeralda smiled and pulled her into a tight hug.
"Hey Reyna. Long time no see." Esme said. Reyna laughed.
"Yeah, it's been seven years. Who's your godly parent?" Reyna asked. Esme grinned.
"Why don't you take a guess?" Esme said. Reyna thought for a minute.
"Ceres?" Reyna asked. Esme had always loved plants and gardening.
"Nope."
"Um, oh! Flora!"
"Yep!"
"How long have you been here?" Reyna asked. It seemed as if she had no end of questions for Esme.
"About two weeks. Frank and Hazel told me you went here, but you were busy at some school called Hogwarts." Esme replied. They walked out of Reyna's villa and headed to Bombilo's Coffee Shop.
A while later, Reyna went out for a nice hot Roman bath and after, she changed into her Camp Jupiter shirt and jeans and set off to find Asher.
As she walked into Asher's villa, Reyna noticed there was a new jacket hanging on his coat hanger.
The jacket Esmeralda had been wearing.
Reyna felt as if her whole world had stopped. What was Esme's jacket doing in her boyfriend's house? She crept silently into his living room and saw something that made her blood boil.
Esmeralda was kissing Asher on the couch.
