Description: Lexie breaks up with mark because she realises she is in love with y/n y/l/n. But while babysitting Sofia, y/n's niece y/n admits that she wants kids and doesn't know if she wants to wait 5+ years.

(Lexie stayed with mark when Callie got pregnant but said she didn't want a mother role at the moment but she would look after the baby if needed.)

Lexie's pov-

I watched as y/n walked away with her sister Arizona and Callie to go get Sofia from day care.

"Are you okay?" Meredith asked me as she and Zola came over.

"Did you ever have feelings for somebody who isn't your partner like you love them?" I asked before I could even stop myself.

"Yeah, I was with a vet before me and Derek got together properly." She admitted and handed me Zola who was reaching out for me. "I loved him, I really did but my love for Derek was stronger I couldn't see a future without Derek in it and still being happy."

"I think I'm in love with y/n and I have been for a while." I told her as I kissed all over Zola's face. "I love mark but I don't think I'm-"

"In love with him anymore?" Meredith finished for me making me nod. "The best thing to do is end it with mark because it's unfair to him and then go after y/n if that's what you really want, she makes you happy and you make her happy I can tell so try make it work."

"Yeah, your right." I nod and hand her Zola.

"Your in love with y/n?" Mark asked as he looked at me sadly.

"Yeah, I'm so sorry I really didn't mean to hurt you and I do love you but I'm not in love with you anymore." I told him as we sat down on his couch.

"I understand, I'm hurt but I'm happy you came to me before anything happened between you and her." He sighed and patted my thigh. "Maybe one day we can be friends because of it works out with you and y/n I'll see you quite a lot."

"Hopefully, I really want to be friends with you mark." I smiled at him.

"Go get your girl, she's across the hall." He laughed and pushed me up and towards the door. "Good luck and Lexie if you hurt her I will get someone to hurt you, she is family."

"I promise I will try not to hurt her."

Y/n's pov-

"Yay!" I cooed when Sofia handed me the blue block.

I was babysitting her while my sister and Callie went out for a date.

It was their night with her but really need some alone time so I happily jumped at the chance to spend time with my niece, I even told them to stay at a hotel tonight.

"Can you get me the green block?" I asked her gently.

She happily ran off to find the green block what I had placed on the couch for her.

There was a knock at the door what pulled my attention away from my sweet niece.

"One minute sweetie, why don't you go pick a book for after bath time my love." I told her before answering the door. "Lexie!"

"Y/n, can I talk to you?" She asked with a smile.

"Yeah, come in." I let her in before going to check on Sofia.

"Aunt Y/n/n!" She laughed as she held up a book.

"How about we take a bath in the morning before mommy and momma come home instead?" I asked her with a kissed her head gently.  

"Okay!" She screamed before running into the living room where Lexi was smiling at her.  "Lexlex!"

"Hey Sofia!" She cooed and scooped her up.

"We can talk once I've got her to sleep." I smiled and got to work on putting a hyper 2 year old to sleep.

Finally she was asleep and I was now laid on the couch with my head on Lexie's lap tiredly.

"I broke up with mark." She said making me suddenly sit up and look at her.

"Oh Lexie I'm so sorry."

"No, I broke up with him because I'm in love with you." She admitted making me freeze.

She loves me?

"I've been in love with you for a while and I realised it wasn't fair for anyone in the situation to stay with mark and not follow my feelings for you."

"Lexie, I love you too." I smiled but didn't lean forward when she went to hug me. "But we want different things in life- I saw you and mark fight and fight over having kids and getting married."

"Y/n I want to get married and have kids just not soon-" lexie said giving me a look that said she didn't understand what I was doing.

"Lexie, I see myself married and with a child in the next two or three years where you don't see yourself having kids or even getting married for another 5+ years and I don't think I can wait that long." I told her as I looked at my hands. "I see myself walking around the hospital looking for my wife with my child in the carrier after a hard day of doing surgeries."

"Y/n I want that with you too, I want a life with you." Lexie smiled and moved closer to me. "How about we take it one day at a time but I promise you that you will have a baby and a wife within the next 3 years if that's what you want then I want it too."

"I want that all with you Lexie." I laughed through my tears as I threw myself in her arms.

"I love you y/n and I can't wait to live my life with you." She held me tightly, looking into my eyes. "Can I kiss you yet?"

"You can kiss me." I laughed and kissed her gently.

I walked through the hospital with my sister and Sofia by my side.

"Lexi!" I smiled and pulled my beautiful wife into my arms.

"Oh my sweet babies!" Lexie smiled and she took our five month old son out of the carrier and pulled me into a kiss. "I'm just waiting for him to wake up so I can do a neuro check then we can go home."

"We'll I was going to go to the cafeteria to get some cake with Sofia for a treat so why don't you meet us there?" I asked her as I happily watched her hold our baby.

"Cake? Count me in, get us your two favorites and we can share them when I get there." She smiled and kissed me again and  passed me back out son.

Our beautiful baby boy Cyrus Timothy grey.

We named him after my my brother and we got the name Cyrus from a boy of the peds ward.

We fell in love with the name after we heard it when I was 7 months pregnant with him.

"Brownie cake and white chocolate sounds like a great snack." I smiled and kissed her before leading my sister and niece to get cake while we wait for our wives.

We got married after two years of being together and had our son 10 months later.

Life was perfect.
