It was still very early in the morning as the Fellowship was traveling. The sun was shining brighter now despite the cloudy sky, making the group narrow their eyes from time to time. They traversed mountains, grasslands and plains. After walking a great distance, they decided to set camp near some mountains. Big rocks were sticking out from the ground on the small hill, green plains could be seen in the distance.
Eliriel sat next to Gandalf on a ledge, who was smoking his pipe and watched as Boromir was currently training Merry and Pippin on how to wield a sword, which was actually really nice of him, Eliriel thought. As for the two halflings it seems they have taken an interest in her. They have been asking her a lot of questions about where she was from for example and each time Eliriel answered enough to keep them satisfied but not too much so that they learn everything about her. Hobbits were truly curious creatures.
"We must hold to this course, West of the Misty Mountains for forty days. If our luck holds, the Gap of Rohan will still be open to us." Gandalf muttered to himself, creating small rings of smoke with his pipe.
"Move your feet!"
Eliriel heard Aragorn say, advising Pippin as he trained.
She watched as Sam approached her. "Would you like some sausages my lady?" He asked kindly holding a plate filled with them. But the elleth wasn't really hungry. "Thank you Sam, but I'm quite alright." She gave him a smile and kindly refused. The hobbit nodded and went back to sit next to Frodo.
"If anyone was to ask for my opinion, which I note they're not, I'd say we were taking the long way 'round." Gimli started, Eliriel looked over to him. "Gandalf, we could pass through the Mines of Moria. My cousin Balin would give us a royal welcome."
But Gandalf disagreed. "No, I would not take the road through Moria unless I had no other choice."
Eliriel agreed with the wizard as she was aware of the dangerous creatures that lurked in the dark depths of Moria. She gave Mithrandir a look at the mention of Balin's name.
Just then Legolas walked past them and stood over a rock to look over in the distance.
Eliriel followed his gaze from her seat, her elven eyes allowed her to see clearly in great distances. She spotted what would seem like a dark cloud in sky.
"What is that?" Sam asked with unease.
"Nothing, it's just a wisp of cloud." Gimli dismissed. Now the rest of the Fellowship looked at the sky in discomfort, something was wrong.
Eliriel would have agreed with the dwarf, but it didn't act like a cloud. It was moving fast agaist the wind and Eliriel noticed pairs of wings as it moved. Eliriel eyes widened in realization.
'This is no cloud.'
"Crebain from Dunland!" Legolas yelled and everyone panicked.
Hastily Sam went to put out the fire, the rest hid the food and belongings they had and went to hide themselves.
