Las Vegas, Nevada
Taylor smiles as she watches her daughters giggle and dance together to the music currently blasting through the kitchen speakers of the villa they're renting, little feet stomping and little hands clapping to the beat. She smiles harder, too, when she looks around and sees just how full the room is of people that she loves, friends and family, all here for one thing.
It was Trav's last football game.
They'd decided, together, at the start of the season that this would be it, he'd hang up his cleats at the end of the season, no matter what way it ended. It just so happened it meant he was in another Super Bowl, right back here in Las Vegas, where Taylor feels like it really all began for them. When she felt like it clicked, that they were doing this. They were forever.
Not that everyone here knows that: they're excited for the game, and sure, they may have their suspicions, but he'd only told Jason, who was sworn to secrecy. There would be a day for a press conference and the proper announcement, but today was not that day. Today was the day to win his sixth Super Bowl, and become the tight end with the most Super Bowl rings in history. To write his name in the history books and cement the Chiefs dynasty and his place in it.
It was early, but everyone was wide awake, eagerly awaiting Travis' arrival from the team hotel. Patty was here, setting up his station to cut Trav's hair; Kumar was currently cooking up a storm for everyone; Aaron and Andre were hanging out with Ross and Aric and Harry, and in the middle of it all were their families: Donna and Ed, of course, Jason, Kylie and their girls; and Andrea, Scott and Austin, too.
Taylor wasn't sure whether it was the pregnancy hormones or the emotion of knowing it would be her last time to watch Travis play, but she was having a hard time keeping her tears at bay while observing the scene, all the people they loved so dearly, gathered to support her husband. It raised a lump in her throat when she thought about it, making her blink tears away.
Shaking her head, she gets up to make coffee, the machine just spitting out the black liquid when she hears the door open, her faithful security guy Drew greeting Travis, and then Mia's ear splitting screech of 'Daddy!!!!!!', as she ran towards him, Travis crouching down to hold her in his arms.
She turns just to see Annie toddle after her sister, her slippers hitting the tiled floor, and Travis scoops her into his arms too, kissing them both all over their faces. Donna is next to greet him, followed by Andrea, and he makes his way around the room before getting to Taylor, wrapping his arms around her from behind.
'Hi baby. I love you so much', he mumbles against her neck, kissing her along her chin and down into her shoulder, making her laugh.
'Hi Trav. We missed you', she replies, leaning back into his touch, reaching a hand behind her to press his head to hers. He moves his hands underneath her baby bump, gently lifting it up, and she sighs in relief as she feels the weight lessen around her middle.
'How have you been?'
'You mean since you saw us all last night? I'm good Trav, I would tell you otherwise baby', she giggles, bracing her hands against the counter as he removes his from her bump, and turns around in his arms, bringing him as close as possible to her with her bump in the way. She caresses his hair, whispering in his ear, 'I love you so much baby. Can't wait to see you win that game today'.
He pulls back, smiling a sweet grin in her direction, before kissing her softly. They're interrupted, though, by a cough from behind them, and Travis looks over his shoulder to find the rest of the room watching them, Patty eagerly awaiting Travis to notice that he's ready for his haircut.
'Geez, not hard to see why they're gonna have four kids', Ross chuckles, and Travis flips him the finger, sticking his tongue out at him as he walks over to the table, Patty getting to work. Taylor helps Kumar with the last of the food and they all sit and eat together, the room filled with love and laughter. Travis heads upstairs to get changed quickly and comes back dressed to impress, sweeping his girls up into his arms once again.
