I'd walk with you

nobita-kun set up the bowl in front of me as we both sat down in the guest room since it felt too awkward to be doing that in the kitchen. atleast there was a tv in the guest room so i could kill down the silence.

"i hope you like it" he smiles at me just as i pick up my chopsticks. something about his smile is just so different today.

he only ever gives me a somewhat apologetic smile but just now it looked like he meant it. it's not the forced diplomatic one but something that you show to your friends.

I'm still not sure how to ask him about that day me and yuki found him getting beaten up by his so called friends, or to even ask him in the first place.

though i felt like i should've brought that up already i couldn't do it. for some reason, i keep thinking i have no right to meddle in his business while also being guilty about not asking about something i clearly should've.

with nobita-kun, i have this relationship where i know him enough to call him by his name but not enough to call out his name in a crowd so that I'm not alone.

that didn't make much sense but it's the best way i could define this thing between us. i don't believe we're friends yet, while i also don't want to think we're still only classmates.

as I'm lost in my thoughts, my eyes meet his who have been waiting for an answer.

"thank you" i nod and smile back, obviously a smile that you give to show you're thankful.

"I've wanted to say this for a while now, but it's amazing how you have a tv even in your guest room" nobita-kun suddenly speaks up as i look at him and back at the tv.

ora?

"is it?"

"yes, really. at our home we only have it in the living room, i don't even have one in mine because of all the other devices. but it's just cool that you have one here"

no but seriously, what's up with him today?

"ah, thanks i guess. my parents thought whoever stays here might be bored so they got one just in case. there's one in my room too—"

really? since when did i talk about useless things like that? even yuki didn't know i had a tv in my room till i finally allowed her to enter it.

"woah, really?" his eyes go wide and he looks surprised at something that is so little. it amazes me how his eyes could light up for such a thing.

i mean, is it that big of a deal to have a tv in your room?

"that's seriously cool. dekisugi-kun's parents are amazing" he smiles and takes another bite of his ramyeon while i watch him do even that with a happy expression.

i thought people like yuki were an exception for getting happy at almost anything, but i guess i must've been wrong. there was another one right in front of my eyes.

"thanks, i guess" i shift my eyes from him to the sofa behind him.

there has to be something wrong with either of us today.

"oh right, i didn't know what dekisugi-kun would like so i just got you a cola. if you want something else please tell me" he says.

my eyes immediately go over at the glass filled with coke and icecubes. an unintentional smile just left my lips.

what? what was that?

"sure i won't hesitate, nobi-sama" i chuckle a bit as his eyes go wide at the realisation. that's the kind of reaction i expected from him.

"a-ah, I'm sorry! i didn't mean to sound like i was the owner here.." he mumbles the last part making his eyes look down at the table.

there's even a faint redness on his ears, really? getting all worked up over something like that has to be something only he can do.

"that's fine. plus, I'm okay with the cola. thank you for the meal"

---

it'd be safe to say we didn't get much studying done yesterday due to the heavy food. i mean, i always make sure to make enough ramen to not stay hungry but also not so much that I'd doze off.

but seems like nobita-kun didn't do all the math and ended up not focusing on anything at all.

"good morning!" yuki jumps up from behind me as i don't lose my composure which makes her pout a little bit.

"aw, you're no fun"

"sure I'm not" i say with my habds in my pocket despite it being scorching hot.

"anyways, what do you want to drink? it's my treat today" she says getting a cola for herself again as i nod my head as a no.

"that everyday is going to cut off your sweets in the future"

"huh? what does that even mean?" she makes a confused face as i just sigh at her.

"he means you'll get diabetes. cola increases the risk of being a sweet avoider by 20%" a voice interrupts as yuki turns around in a second.

i should've guessed who it was by the great choice of words.

"niki-kun!" she greets him with happiness sparkling in her eyes.

"mornin' yuuji-chan" he high fives yuki with the most unhinged smile ever.

seriously? I'd rather be single for life than fall for a guy like that.

"yuuji is a boys' name" i sigh but yuki covers my mouth.

"that's fine. everyone makes mistakes! niki-kun, it's yuki not yuuji" she smiles again as he snaps his finger being the ridiculous person he was.

"ack! that's right that's right. yuki-chan"

i turn around to ignore this gibberish as that was enough to ruin my peaceful morning. leaving them a few steps behind, I'm about to plug in my earphones a can of cola appears in front of me.

"good morning, dekisugi-kun"

oh i know for sure who that is.
