"You're here under the suspicion that you've committed a murder." One of the officers slammed the table and stared me straight in the eyes. I jumped back slightly, startled.

"Jeff, don't scare the suspect. Let me take over," The other officer put a hand on his partner's shoulder.

The other officer was much smaller and skinnier than the main officer. He wore glasses and had wrinkly clothes. He looked at me sympathetically before smiling and continuing the interrogation.

"We didn't mean to scare you. Jeff just gets a little passionate at times," The other officer laughed. "Anyway, according to witnesses around the scene, you and five other members committed homicide on a driver going by the first name, Harper. Would that statement be true?"

"No sir," I spoke, deadpan. I hated to lie, but at the same time, I didn't want to sell my friends out or get them arrested only because I was dumb enough to get caught by the police.

"Okay, can you give the names of the people you were with? Other officers of the force have images of you and your acquaintances in the middle of the city square."

"Is that a requirement? To give the names of the people I was with?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

"No ma'am, but it would help to solve the case even if you were innocent. We didn't bring you here because you're in trouble. We brought you here due to the fact you have information that we don't."

"Cam, let me handle this," Jeff pushed the other cop out of the way.

"Hush. You don't know how to handle situations. Plus, be professional. Boss wanted us to work together, so the best thing to do is comply in a situation like this. Especially in an interrogation."

"Ugh... Fine," Jeff frowned. "You better not fuck this shit up then."

"Don't worry. I've done this before."

"Now, where were we? Oh yeah... You're not required to give the names of the people accompanying you." Cam lifted his glasses back up to the bridge of his nose. "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be used against you in court."

"Another question, where were you headed when you were in Harper's car?" Cam asked with a smile.

"I wasn't in Harper's car at any point," I tried to lie and defend myself.

"Hm, that's interesting, because I have something to show you," Cam calmly exhaled.

Cam snapped his fingers. Jeff walked over to the doorway and gave Cam a folder. Cam opened the folder and showed me the contents of the folder. In the folder were pictures of my friends and I in Oxy. One of the images was a picture of all of us in the backseat of the car.

"Now, lying to an officer is a serious offense and can land you in the slammer. If you tell the truth, you might be able to get yourself out of hot water. Now, please answer my questions truthfully. Is that understood?" Cam asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes, officer," I had no choice but to tell the truth now, or else I could get arrested.

"Very good. Tell me, were you in the car as Harper died?"

"Not as Harper died," I remained calm.

"How about any time within the last fifteen minutes before his death? Were you involved in any interaction around Harper and were you in his vicinity at all?"

"Yes, I was," I frowned and put my head down slightly.

"See, that's what we want. The truth. That's all. Thank you for not lying." Cam smiled and gave a look of reassurance, giving me the "just doing my job" eyes.
