𓏲ּ author's perspective :

"Ni-ki focus for once!" Jay shouted across the basketball court when Ni-ki gained his consciousness and looked around realizing his current state and covering up his bad performance with a last throw which went directly in the net and they won a score.

Running upto Ni-ki, Sunghoon patted his shoulder as they took their position, still panting from the tough competition they were giving to Jungwon's team, when he asked, "Why you look so lost from beginning, everything okay?" Ni-ki glanced over at his direction with a simple nod and mumbled "Yeah everything's fine."

And without waiting for Sunghoon's response he ran straight to Heesung, stole the ball in a swift motion again and scored another goal.

Sunoo blew out the whistle earning groans from Jungwon, Heesung and Jake while the rest three hi-fi ed each other, especially Ni-ki getting proud pats on his shoulder from his hyungs for the last two goals.

Now upon resting on the bleachers the seven of them were sitting loosely, covered in sweat while drinking water when Ni-ki was poked again by Jay, and he looked at them as if he was unaware of the fact how zoned out he was since the beginning of their matches.

"All good?" Jay asked when Ni-ki just nodded but was still unable to satisfy their curious faces staring at his soul, "Yeah, I was thinking about my pending assignments." He simply replied and laid back on the top bleacher while closing his eyes to rest for a bit when suddenly Jungwon clapped his hands as if remembered something.

"Oh right these assignments are eating out Yejin too." He spoke up earning Ni-ki's entire attention as he sat abruptly and was anxious upon her name being finally heard in these past days.

That's where his whole attention was this entire time being, the only reason he was zoned out from the beginning. Yejin. Where he couldn't resist looking at her in every class, he was now missing her since she had not come to school for two days straight. Which was unusual, since it was their senior year and the classes were very important.

He still could feel his lips curling up in a soft smile when he remembered the little interaction he had with Yejin back in the music class.

The way she looked so excited and seemed like she could have talked for hours with him on her favourite things - music was too cute to Ni-ki.

And he felt his heartbeat increasing upon recalling the way her voice sounded when she called out his name. It was the pure bliss to his ears.

And ofcourse he was disappointed every time when he looked over at her seat and was only welcomed with her absence. That's what he's been busy thinking about as to why she isn't coming to school?

Not like her friend group is bunking or that the last time he saw her and if she looked weak. Hell she'll always look ethereal in his eyes no matter what. But let's not get distracted.

"She hasn't even gone out to school for two days, and is always busy completing her assignments and says that the amount of work they are loading students with is insane." Jungwon continued shaking his head being a little worried whereas Ni-ki raised an eyebrow in confusion.

Sure they were getting bombarded with assignments but it wasn't that much that she had to stay back and complete it, it was barely class notes and few worksheets as homework. Then why is she lying to Jungwon?

"You say Ni-ki, is your school pressurizing you with this amount of work too?" Sunghoon asked as he recalled how Ni-ki said his attention was stolen because of his impending work. Ni-ki cleared his throat in nervousness when six of them looked in his direction, waiting for his response.

"Umm yeah but.. it's not that pile of work that'll keep me absenting school." He answered Jungwon appeared to be a little doubtful.

"It depends upon the individual's capacity as well, maybe Yejin isn't feeling well?" Jake questioned Jungwon when he only shrugged.

"What if she's going through her breakup and is missing school on purpose to avoid her ex?" Heesung chuckled a bit but only to get glares in response from Jungwon and Ni-ki as well, but it went unnoticeable.

"It's nothing like that! I think it is Yejin's class teacher, she said he is picking on her friend group unnecessarily these days, maybe that could be a reason too?"

Jungwon said unsurely when again Ni-ki's eyebrows furrowed at his words, sure their homeroom teacher is a total jerk but he knows Yejin, she isn't the type to miss school just because of Mr. Park, since she never misses to keep him in his boundaries too.

Then what is the freaking reason and why is she lying? Nothing makes sense at all.

"Is he being a creep?" Jay asked with a hint of worry when Jungwon shaked his head in denial. "Maybe he doesn't like her." He answered when Jay spoke in a stern manner again, "I'll make sure to meet Yejin after her school in a few days since you clearly aren't being a responsible brother."

"Jay hyun-" Jungwon sulked while others kept adding to their ongoing conversation meanwhile Ni-ki was sitting back silently engrossed in his own thoughts.

The fact that none of the reasons Yejin gave to Jungwon made any sense and it was sure to Ni-ki that she was lying, or maybe hiding something because all of her explanations were surely pretty lame and he knows it well since they both share almost all the classes but this was the thing which none of his hyungs knew about.

Yeah they knew that he was in the last year of his highschool but none of them went in particular details as to in which school he was, boys can happen to be like this sometimes, nothing to be suprised about.

And for the matter of fact a part of him never told them as well, especially from how Jungwon gets protective over Yejin, his little sister, he knows that the day he'll come to know about it he'll strictly ask Ni-ki to not contact her which is something Ni-ki don't want to say yes to.

So he came upon the ridiculous conclusion that he'll hide the fact that they both are classmates until it'll put him in a problematic situation and since Yejin doesn't know Ni-ki is in her brother's friend group it'll all be simple and sorted.

Maybe falling in this feeling with Yejin, his hyung's little sister could lead him into some real problem.
