This is it. It is the day. The day of Threshing. God knows if I'll even be able to bond a dragon.I get ready and join the cadets very early in the morning today. We were all assembled in the training arena. From there our wing leader is supposed to guide us to where the threshing is.
I stare at Xaden as he is briefly explaining us what to and what not to do when Infront of a dragon.
We should never look them in the eye and we should not be scared since they are able to smell our fear.Dragons only bond with confident and strong cadets. Not weaklings like me. I get nervous a bit and listen to him with my full attention.
Once he is done, he walks away and we all are told to follow our instructor.
Our instructor guides us through a rocky path taking us up on a hill. The road is muddy and uneven.
My pulse rises as Im ascending the hill. Who knows whats awaiting for me up ahead.
We eventually reach on top. There are a lot of dragons up north and a few scattered here and there eagerly waiting for its bonder or dinner.
We all are instructed to walk up close to the dragons to feel the connection between the ones that wants to bond with you.
Honestly I'm very scared right now and I'm pretty positive I'll get eaten instead of bonded. I make my way to a a bushy area on the west. It's filled with tress and bushes here. I climb up on top of a tree from where I can get a clear view of the threshing.
I'm up here all by myself and humming to keep me a little occupied. Far in the distance I spot what looks like a golden dragon but it's pretty small in size.
It's... A baby Dragon?!! No. Baby dragons are not allowed to come here at the threshing unless they are grownups. And there is no golden breed among dragons. It looks so unique to me.
I keep staring at the unique dragon with amusement.
It's just standing on the ground looking here and there every once in awhile but not moving at all. It's standing so still that I feel like I'm probably seeing things. Its yellow-goldenish feather with sparkly golden scales stands out so much. But not as much as the other big dragons since it's very tiny and cute.
Suddenly I hear faint voices coming up behind me. I look back and see Jack with two other guys walking towards my direction. I hide myself behind the leaves and stay still. They stop in front of my tree staring with their eyes wide open at the Golden Dragon.
"Woah!! Check that out Jack! It's a baby dragon!" One of the guy tells Jack. "Wow! It indeed is unique isn't it?" Jack says. "Since it's a child let's go hunt on it." He says again with a grin. The other guys nods at Jack and head towards the baby dragon with their swords.
I jump from the tree and land on the ground as fast as I can. Saving the baby dragon is all I can think of right now. There is no way I'm letting them kill it.
I run from the woods towards the baby dragon and reach it before they could. As I get closer to it, the dragon gets bigger in size. I clearly underestimated its height. I stop in front of the dragon and stare at its eyes while it stares at with its dark yellow eyes which is almost glowing.
It's big in size but nothing compared to the adult dragons. "Umm dragon! You have to get away. You see those men approaching you!? They are gonna kill you." I scream hoping the dragon would be able to understand me.
But it just stares at me like I'm crazy and doesn't move even a bit. I touch its body and try pushing it but it still won't budge.
"Baby dragon!!! If you don't move right now they are gonna kill you so, move please!!!" I beg. But it just stares at the men and their sword but still isn't taking the hint.
They are here at this point and I have no option but to defend it. I take two of my daggers and aim it at them.
"Get away from the dragon unless you wanna get sliced." I tell them. "Woah, Sorrengail you really think you'd win against us three?" Jack says bursting out laughing.
"Even if I can't the dragon will burn you guys to death so step back." I say with fierceness in my voice.
"It's a baby. It can't breathe fire yet." A familiar voice says from behind me and I look back. Xaden is standing leaning against a tree staring at us with a calm expression, looking absolutely hot as usual.
How can someone be this hot even while leaning against a tree? What am I thinking. Snap out of it Violet.
"A little help, Xaden?!" I ask him. "It's your fight βία. Deal it yourself." He says with a smirk on his face which irritates me to the core. Wow. What. A. Gentleman.
I scoff and turn to Jake, they look ready to slash me up. I gulp and get ready to fight. They come at me slashing their swords at me.
I dodge all three of them and try to stab them back but they dodge. Jack runs up from beside me and hits my shoulder with a large blow from his sword immediately cutting through my skin.
My suit rips and the pink flesh and fresh blood is exposed on top of it. I groan in pain and hold my shoulders tightly with one arm.
I look back at Xaden and he looks at Jack with rage in his eyes and clenched jaw. But he still doesn't come to save or even help me.
I try to fight with my unharmed arm but I feel weak.
So weak that i might just fall. I try to stab at them but they dodge easily and laugh at me.The golden dragon is still standing behind me not moving an inch. I look at it with helpless eyes, pleading it to help me but nothing.
"Please, go away." I say in a raspy tone, my voice breaking and tears forming my vision. "Or what, Sorrengail?! Are you gonna kill-" before Jack could finish his sentence, he and the other two guys stare at me with their eyes wide open like they just saw a ghost.
No they are not staring at me, they are staring behind me. Large shadows appear in front of me covering the whole area into darkness.
I slowly look back and I can see Xaden also staring at whatever it is with a surprised expression and Sgaeyl suddenly appearing behind him.
At first I thought it was Sgaeyl's shadow but then I look back. And I was wrong. The shadow of this creature is at least five times larger than Sgaeyl's.
It's a huge black dragon, a dragon larger than any other dragon I have ever seen. Black dragons are the most rarest among all dragons. Its sharp black scales and deadly red eyes are enough to send chills down anyone's spines.
It's staring at Jack and their group with red bloodshot eyes like it's angry at them. "Step aside Silver one." A large deep voice emerges inside me. No, in my head.
I stare around in confusion trying to figure out who just said that. " I'm talking to you Silver one. Yes you. Look up." The voice commands me.
It's the dragon! The dragon is talking to me?! I step aside and lock my eyes with Xaden. His staring at me with his eyes wide open. I never saw Xaden so surprised and taken aback in my entire life.
"Come to me Violet." A light girl's voice speaks up in my head and I recognise it to be the golden dragon's voice.
I walk over to the baby dragon and she shields me with her golden wings. I hear a loud growl and then the sound of fire being shot from the black dragon.
I stare at Jack and the guys who are running for their life. Jack is on the lead and got pretty far ahead but the other guys got human barbecued by The fire breathing black dragon.
Maybe I am just dreaming and I'll wake up to prepare for the threshing. Or maybe a black dragon really did just speak to me.
