****PLS KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS IS A FLASHBACK****

Today was my birthday. I was turning 15. My mom was probably out with either Harvey or my best friend's mom, Lila Valeska. My friend was busy doing chores...again. I didn't understand why his mom overworked him so much. Jeez, I felt bad for him most of the time. I decided to go say "Hi" to him, just to keep him some company.

I walked into the barn holding two cups of soda and a box of popcorn

I walked into the barn holding two cups of soda and a box of popcorn. I saw him standing over in the corner, tossing hay around.

"Jerome?" I called out to him. He turned to me, eyebrows raised. Then he smiled and walked over to me.

"Oh, hey Laura. I didn't realize you were here." I handed him his soda and sat down on top of a wooden shelf. It was pretty sturdy so it could hold atleast 3 people. He sat next to me and smiled sweetly. He had the smile of an angel.

"Thanks, uh...for the snacks." He spoke. I smiled and nodded.

"I just wanted to make sure you're okay. I know your mom's been-" then he cut me off.

"Who gives a shit about her right now? I don't want to focus on that." He said sternly. I blinked and pushed my hair back behind my ear. It was silent for a moment.

"...Happy Birthday, Dollface." He spoke softly. I immediately started blushing and smiled. "Thanks, J"

It had been atleast a month and me and my mom were moving in with Harvey. I didn't know how to tell Jerome. I didn't want to. It was too much pressure. I didn't want to hurt him. He might take it the wrong way and think that I want to leave him behind.

God, this was so hard. We would be ready to leave by Saturday. So, I have two whole days to spend the most time possible with him. It was cold outside, so I grabbed my jacket and opened the trailer door. Jerome wasn't to be seen. I stared out into the circus. He could have already found out. It was so scary just to think about it. Seeing his innocent, beautiful eyes fill with tears and sadness.

"Jerome?" I said while knocking on his trailer door. I could hear Lila inside, screaming her lungs out.

"WHY CAN'T YOU DO ANYTHING RIGHT?! THIS IS WHY YOU WERE A FUCKING ACCIDENT!"  My heart dropped. There was banging coming from inside the trailer. Yelling, screaming, crying.

"Jerome?!" I said louder, banging on the door. The noise stopped. There was raspy, feminine breathing.

"Get that...slut...out of here before she ends up like you..." I heard Lila mutter to Jerome. Then I heard footsteps coming towards the door. Jerome opened the door.

His face battered and bruised while his nose was bleeding. I blinked, eyebrows furrowing, and my eyes filling with tears as they widened. I covered my mouth and stayed quiet. He sniffed and sighed.

"What are you doing here?" He asked in a soft, traumatized voice.

"I...I just wanted to talk to you..." I said quietly.

"About what? Huh?" He questioned me, starting to sound frustrated.

Say anything but the point, Laura. ANYTHING BUT THE POINT. I thought to myself.

"Me and my mom are moving in with Harvey in 2 days." FUCK!

He stared at me. His whole facial expression changed. He blinked and he shuddered.

"You're joking...." He spoke. I looked away, lips quivering. "Right...?" He asked me, smiling nervously. I didn't move. The wind blew through my hair. I hugged myself, trying to stay warm. He stopped smiling.

"You can't be serious. After all we've been through, I-" He stuttered.

"I know, Jerome, I'm sorry! I came here to spend the time we have left-" I tried to say before he cut me off.

"BULLSHIT! You know that isn't possible. Not now." He said in a low, angry tone.

"But-" Then he looked into my eyes. "I think you should go...Laura." I softly gasped, then scoffed.

"Jerome-" I stuttered. Then he stepped down and shoved me.

"I SAID LEAVE! WHY DON"T YOU EVER FUCKING LISTEN?!" He yelled, running his fingers through his hair.

The next thing I know, tears were falling from my eyes. His face went from anger to guilt in a split second. Then he turned his back on me and walked back in his trailer. Then he shut the door. Then I stood up and left the area.

I went back to my trailer, only to find both Harvey and my mother standing there, staring at me.

"Laura? What happened hon?" Harvey asked. I wiped my tears with the sleeve of my jacket.

"Nothing...I'm just going to miss this place." Mom smiled at me.

"It'll be okay. We'll visit anytime soon." And just like that, we left that night.

The next morning, Jerome quickly walked to my trailer, knocking on my door.

"Laura? Are you here?" He was able to knock on the door only a few times before it opened by itself. He stayed quiet, looking inside. It was empty. No one was here. Everything was packed up and gone. Then the ringmaster walked up to Jerome and placed his hand on his shoulder.

"They left last night son." He said. Then he patted Jerome on the back and left. Jerome stared and quickly turned around, throwing a fist at the wall, causing his fist to bleed.
