I walked down the Pier to Maroon Grande. I stopped half way to take in the view of the lake. I was wearing my favorite dress. I would never wear it out because I never found the right occasion. It was a tight, black mini dress with Black strapped heels. My jewelry sparkled in the sunlight.

A familiar voice spoke up next to me

A familiar voice spoke up next to me.

"Beautiful." He said, softly but in a presentable manner.

I raised my eyebrows and looks to my left, and up only to see the same gorgeous man Jerome was before. But with glasses and slicked hair.

He stayed quiet for a moment

He stayed quiet for a moment. "The view...I mean..."

    It was awkward and silent.

He took another quick breath. "I felt I've been keeping from you for too long."

It couldn't have been Jerome. He was still in Arkham and even if it was, he would have scars on his face. I blinked and took in a soft, shakey breath.

"I knew that name was fake..." I muttered, then turned back to the water, resting my arms on the wooden railing of the pier.

"How has life been treating you, Laura?" He asked, staring out into the open lake.

I looked at him, wind blowing through my bangs.

"There's been some painful losses." I said softly.

He looked down at the ground, leaning on the railing.

"You wouldn't have even replied to my messages if I hadn't sent the checks, would you?" He muttered.

I turned my head away. "I didn't know it was you."

"That's the point." He looked at me once again. I felt his sharp glare staring into my soul without even looking into my eyes.

"We aren't actually going to eat, now are we?" I asked him.

    "You skipped lunch?"

"Anyone who gets the invitation to Maroon Grande is going to skip lunch."
