Agon

A few days ago…

His screams could wake up the dead but I guess I was pretty smart when I choose an isolated area for my little space. He had tears in his eyes and I think I have heard the word please more times tonight than I did my whole life.

“Please, Eun-“ he started but as I pushed the extremly heated steel into him his words died instantly and inhuman screams were leaving his mouth.

I have started like I do most times. Rip off some of his nails, pluck out a few teeth, break a leg, and give him a pretty good beating. He needs to learn his lesson because he was starting to think that just because I am laying on the low, he runs this town. The little fucker has to learn his place. And he tried to go after my girl…he raped her, made her feel like an object…I couldn’t have that. He messes with what is mine, I mess up his life, if he’ll be alive after I’m done with him. The last rapist that I had to deal with was weak and didn’t survive but maybe Cole was better, at least before being in this room he thought so.

“Come on man, I…I didn’t mean it…” he panted as I gave him a break. “I swear.”

“Oh” I chuckled at him. “You didn’t mean it now? Like what?” I said mockingly while towering over him. “You didn’t mean to install hidden cameras into her apartment and look at her while she wasn’t aware of? You didn’t mean to send her all those nasty notes where you said the most disgusting things to her? You didn’t mean to break into her apartment and hide in her closet? You didn’t mean to rape her while she was crying for you to get off of her?” I accentuated each sentence, at each one, my tone getting deeper and angrier with an octave. “You want me to think that all those notes were for who? Mh? Her neighbour? You wanted to fuck her neighbour instead and you just got into the wrong apartment?” I yelled at him angrily and pushed my switch knife against his throat.

“Come on, Eunha we can sort things out. What do you want?” He tried to bargain as fear grew in his eyes. “I can get you the best molly. Or what? The video? Hm? The video I took of your girl, I can-“ I didn’t let him finish his sentence as the small blade went in his neck directly, letting him struggle. He fell to the ground and blood splattered everywhere. Why do they have to be so messy? I love that carpet and it takes a shit ton of energy and products to get the stains out.

I went to my cabinet and searched for something and shortly found it. In a syringe I took 350 milligrams of morphine and slowly inched towards Cole.

“Hey buddy, I have something to calm you down.” I waved the syringe in front of his eyes. “It’s going to calm you down but it will make you shut up forever.” Steady but sure I injected the morphine into his body. It will only take a few minutes for the first signs to appear and I wanted to be here to witness it all, then I could leave, I have other places to be tonight.

As I predicted, 7 minutes later the effects started to make their appearance. His lips started to get violet and his pupils became like pinpoints. And then a little bit later the spasms began. I smirked to myself.

“Well Cole, I guess I’ll see you in hell.” I said and took my leather jacket and left.

Present

After the talk that me and Eunha had, things started to go slowly back to how they were before. I was bringing him breakfast because he was refusing to eat what the cook was cooking for them, I watched him take his pills and then we would meet again in the therapy room. Today was no different, I took him some pastries that the staff had, he took his pills only with a few groans and now I was waiting for him to come into therapy.  My vision of decorating this room has slowly come together as now it wasn’t so depressing anymore. It had a bit more color, a few plants and it smelled less of vitamins and more like cherry blossom and vanilla.

As if on cue after I finished stacking some papers, the door to the room opened only to make me see Eunha. Quiet as usual he entered the room and took one of his usual spots on the window ledge looking outside.

I let him do his thing since I was used to his behaviour in this room by now. He’ll start a conversation when he wants to. He can stay as long as he wants, I’m getting paid the exact amount and I would lie if I said that I didn’t like his company.

“I don’t understand why you decorate this room so much.” He blurts out suddenly. “Don’t you have anything better to do?”

“No because after you take your pills in the morning I have to wait for your ass to come here.” I said. Another thing that happened after we had that talk was that we started to get comfortable around each other and there was no more fear of being too bold to one another. “And besides, someone new will come in.”

Just like a cat when it hears a toy that has little bells attached to it, Eunha turned his head to me.

“What do you mean someone else is coming in?” He questioned.

“Like a new patient. But I don’t know if it’s gonna be on my floor or the one below.” I explained to him. After hearing my words he looked calmer. “Why? You won’t be sharing a room anyways.”

“It’s not about that.” He states and goes back to looking outside.

“Then?” I asked, curious to know.

He stayed silent and didn’t respond.

“How did you find out about the things that I’ve done?” Eunha later asks, changing the subject. I know exactly what he’s referring to so there’s no point in avoiding or not telling the truth. He’ll find out sooner or later.

“Every patient has a file which is done when they come in. They have everything about them written but for you…it was a bit different. Most spaces were blank or with a question mark, including your name. They don’t even know that your real name is Eunha. Anyway, and on the other pages they have some sort of patient’s history and for you, again it was all under a question mark because they don’t know for sure that you have done all those crimes.” I hesitated for the next part, knowing that it might be a sensitive subject but he had to know. “When you killed your…girlfriend, commited arson, killed that man.” I say and let it a bit hanging.

“That man was a rapist. He deserved it.” He says after a while.

I sighed. “Look, Eunha…no matter how much bad that man has done…you can’t play God and take someone’s life like that.”

“I couldn’t have had let him live Rosie…honestly, I didn’t want to do it but…the girl he raped was 8 and I just-“ he started but couldn’t continue the idea.

“I understand how you’re feeling Eun but…this thing could really damage your life if they do find you guilty.” I softly spoke. “Just think about it.”

He sighed. “You’re right R.” He looked at me and I think he wanted to smile but it came off more like a grin, did he never smile before? “Do you think you could take me outside?” He asked with hope in his voice.

“Do you still have the hat and glasses?” I smiled and laughed, remembering the last time we went out.
