Life is so weird. If a few years ago you would have told me that I would be madly deep down in love with my nurse at a psychiatry ward, I would have asked you if the cops ever caught me. But still, things happen and here I was. I was in love with Rose.

The days at the hospital got more berable. Instead of looking for new ways to escape from my cell, I was looking forward to waking up every morning and see her. Of course, our little tradition stayed, we ate breakfast together, the one that she was taking from the staff canteen and I brought the shockingly decent coffee from the patient canteen. We stayed on the floor every morning and ate, talked about different topics or sometimes doing crossword puzzles when she had the time. Sneaking out together became a bit less frequent because it started to get hotter and I hate the sun and heat.  Therapy sessions have also become more easier in a way, I was talking to her about personal matters and sometimes those times were just forgotten because we were getting caught up in something else with small kisses in between.

This morning was no different, I woke up 2 hours earlier because I wanted to looke presentable even before Rosie got to work. Later on I went to get the coffee and 5 minutes after I came back she came in with the breakfast.

“Morning handsome!” She greeded in that sweet voice of hers.

“Morning princess.” I responded, voice still a bit croaky since I haven’t used it yet.

I sat down on the floor and so did she, a food tray and two coffee mugs between us.

“How did you sleep?” She asked softly and looked at me with her signature smile and soft eyes.

“It was alright. As good as sleeping in a hospital bed can be. Did you sleep okay?” I asked taking her hand in mine and gently rubbing it with my thumb. She nodded and then began to fill me on all the drama that was happening in their canteen since this morning and how one of the elderly nurse, Suzana, that works on the second floor, was complaining so much about how tired the patients make her and how Christie from third floor was arguing with her because she has it harder. “[…]. Honestly I think they would both deserve a spot in this hospital.” Rosie said and softly laughed at what happened. I laughed along with her because the situation was funny and also because she was right, since I have been at this hospital I have came across some weird nurses.

“What should we do today?” She asks throwing her head on my bed.

“What we’ve been doing since always.” I responded.

“You haven’t seen the day of light in almost two weeks, you need to go out.” She explained.

“It’s okay, you know I don’t like the sun and heat.” I tried to calm her down.

“We could go indoors…” she suggests.

“Like where? We are indoors here too.”

“My place.” She said out of the blue.

I raised my head and looked at her like she was crazy. Sure, taking me into the hospital’s park was one thing but helping me escape and go to her house was completely another situation. Yup, she spent too much time with me, she’s getting crazy.

“What? Don’t look at me like that!” She defended herself.

“That is too risky and it comes from me, we can’t beautiful.”

“Watch me, be ready at 9.” She said and then just left.

Something about that was just so hot.

Surely enough, at 9 pm sharp she came in dressed in her normal clothes.

The adventure of getting out without getting caught was literally that, an adventure. Hearts racing, feet trembling. When we stepped foot outside of the main gate, she let out a reliefed sigh and a giggle along with it. Hand in hand we walked towards her place and let the moonlight guide us and the stars to be out witness. I got a crazy idea that I think she might like.

“Run.” I said to her and gripping her hand even tighter I started running, her behind me. I was looking behind me from time to time to check in on her.

“Why are we running?” She said a bit tired.

“Didn’t you ever want to just run and leave everything behind?” I said and stopping from running for a second to look at her.

She nodded and smiled.

For the rest of the way home we walked.

Rosie lets me in first and then disappears to wash her hands while I take a seat on her couch. It was not the first time I was here but it is the first time I really take in everything that lays in her apartment. She comes back smiling and takes a seat next to me.

“You hungry?” She asks mainly not because she wants to know about me but because she probably is.

“No but I have a craving. I mean…I don’t know how I could have a craving because I never ate it but-“

“Just say it.” She interrupts my rambling and smiled. “I’ll try to make it.”

“Chocolate cake.” I whispered.

She was a bit shocked. “Chocolate cake?” She asked and I nodded. “You never had chocolate cake?”

“No…” I responded.

She had now been in the kitchen for a while, time in which I discovered the wonder that was the television. Sure I know how it worked but hers was different because it was barely working. I was hearing some plates clatter, machines working and whatnot.

“You need help?” I asked her a bit louder.

“Just a second! My hands are dirty right now.” She yelled back and I chuckled because she thought that I was the one that needed help. I slowly made my way into the kitchen where I saw her working hard and couldn’t help but go behind her and hug her from behind. She jumps a bit and the spoon falls back into the mixture.

“I have to taste that.” She explains softly while my head rests on her shoulder.

She takes the spoon and tastes the chocolaty mixture and nods in approval full of excitement. I’m guessing she got it right.

“It’s almost ready.” She says with a happy face and turns to look at me, my hands still on her waist.

I take the spoon with which she spread the icing on the cake and spread some of the remaining icing on her lower lip. My head leans closer to hers and I start to nibble chocolate off of her lips. I can feel her heart skipping a beat as my tongue slowly slides across her lower lip, tasting the chocolate.

It’s nothing sexual, I’m not turned on but it’s an intimate moment between us. I want to keep her this close forever.
