Rose
Once we were out, the sun brushed and caressed our skin delicately. It was a nice day but as per usual we walked without talking too much and to our surprise we ended up in the same spot we did last time too and took a seat on the bench.
“So what do you do? Like besides coming to work, taking care of me and running from a stalker?” he asked out of nowhere.
That was actually a good question. What do I do beside those things? With everything that has happened in these past months, the whole situation with my stalker and…Jay, I forgot to also do things that made me happy.
“Well actually, I don’t do much besides that.” I responded reluctantly.
“You have a friend, right? Jay. What’s up with him?” he asked.
I didn’t know how to tell him that we actually had a fight and haven’t talked in weeks. Not even when we were in college, we never fought. Sure he had fights with Tim but within 2 days they were back to being best friends. With me…the words that he said that night really made me question some things about our friendship. Like yes I knew he was a bit of a playboy. He liked female attention and he was getting plenty of that every time we were going out but when he spoke to me like that I couldn’t help but feel like one of the girls that he once slept with and now he didn’t want to see again.
“We aren’t friends anymore.” I settled with the answer.
“Oh?” he said and raised his eyebrow as he was playing with a flower that he picked out of the ground.
“Nothing worth mentioning. He was just an asshole.”
Eunha accepted the fact that I didn’t want to talk about it and we stayed silent for a couple of minutes. I was enjoying the sun and the nice weather.
“Wait for me at your place at 8.” Eunha quickly spoke.
“What?” I turned my head to face him.
“I’m taking you out. You need to live a little Rosie and I’m going to make sure you do and keep you safe at the same time.” He stated while still playing with that flower between his fingers.
“Where are we even going to go. You can’t even get out of here.” I said as a matter of fact.
“You forget the part where I know where you live princess.” He smirked and looked at me for a second then his eyes going back onto the flower. He was right. I did forget that part. The part where he could actually get out of the hospital and no one suspected him of ever leaving.
“You still haven’t answered my question. Where are we going?” I reinforced my question.
“Never heard of the saying curiosity killed the cat?” he smiled while still not making eye contact with me.
There he was back again. He usually did talk like that. Always mysterious and talking in riddles but that’s a thing I liked about him. He wasn’t boring.“Just be ready at 8. Dress normally.” Eunha said.
“Okay fine.” I gave up.
We didn’t spend much more time outside after that. I didn’t want to get in trouble by risking meeting with any other employees or worse, my boss, so I took Eunha in and I continued with my work schedule until 4 pm.
As soon as I got home I was in a slump. What was I going to wear? He said something normal but what if my normal was weird for him. It was a very big possibility because a thing from college that actually stuck with me was: someone’s ordinary could be another’s extraordinary and vice versa. Jeez Rose, it’s clothes you’re talking about. I tried to calm myself down and just not think too much about my choices.
