Sleepless Exhaustion

A gentle knock sounded, you only having slightly heard it, unsure if it was actually being heard, or if it was somewhere in the world of slumber. The knock sounded again, and this time, you felt your arm being nudged.

"(Y/n), wake up," a small voice said quietly. You groaned softly.

"(Y/n)?" you heard another voice say. You sat up, seeing your father peeking his head out from the now ajar door of your bedroom. You groaned softly, holding your head. Your father walked in, setting a tray down on your nightstand.

"Honey, are you alright?" he asked.

"Yeah, Dad... I'm... fine," you grumbled. William glanced down at the plush bunny in your lap. He gently picked the plush up.

"Huh. These little rascals were pulled from the shelves a while back. They had evidently been causing injuries. I don't recall giving this one to you. Though this one looks a bit different somehow... almost like the one I had put away," he said. You hummed in response.

"Though, I suppose as long as you're careful with it, I'll let you keep it. I don't think it would do you harm anyway," he said, handing Plushtrap back to you. You hugged the bunny close to you. It was evident you were still exhausted. William crouched down, looking at you.

"You sure you're okay, kiddo? You're looking rough," he said.

"I'm okay," you said. He hummed. You looked at him, seeing his ratty short hair and dark circles under his eyes. You also noticed his irises were their normal color instead of being pale-grey. Though, they were dull-looking. There was a moment of awkward silence before he stood back up.

"Make sure you eat, okay? And take your pills. I bought a big water bottle for you so you can have more water without having to get out of bed for it," he said. You nodded.

"I'll be right back," he said, walking out of your room, leaving the door open slightly. You glanced at the tray beside you, sighing softly. After a few minutes, your father returned with a large, transparent water bottle. It had marks on the side of it, with numbers beside the marks. He set the full bottle down on the nightstand, which made a bit of a thud as it hit the wood. He seemed to stare at you for a moment, then sighed. You watched as he paused. He turned to look over at the glass box on top of the dresser behind him. He approached the box, picking it up. He looked at the plush inside.

"(Y/n)... did you do this?" he asked, looking at you. You remained silent. You hadn't known what to say.

"Sweetheart... if he bothers you that much, I can get rid of him," he said.

"He doesn't bother me," you spoke up.

"Then why is he in this box?" he asked. Silence filled the air for a few moments.

"Honey, do you mind if I take him with me? I want to have a good look at him," he said. You cocked your head to the side, raising an eyebrow before hesitantly agreeing. He was quick to leave the room, which made you suspicious. You got up, wanting to follow him until Fredbear shifted, grabbing your wrist.

"Where are you going?" he asked. You scoffed in annoyance. He picked you up and set you back down in bed. You crossed your arms and turned your back to him.

"(Y/n), please don't be stubborn," he said. You huffed quietly.

"(Y/n)," he said, his tone softer.

"Why do you hate him so much?" you asked, keeping your back to him. Fredbear sighed.

"Sweetheart, Nightmare has done some very bad things in his lifetime. He is a danger to not only you, but to the rest of us," he said. You turned to look at him, shooting him a glare.

"What are you talking about? Mr. Nightmare isn't bad," Plushtrap spoke. The large bear looked down at Plushtrap.

"That's just what you don't understand, Plush. You never saw anything bad that he had ever done," Fredbear said.

"Nightbear isn't a danger to me. If he was a danger, then why did he never hurt me? Why did he heal me enough to be able to leave the hospital?" you asked.

"He's trying to get on your good side so he can use you," he said. You turned away from him again. You got up from your bed. Just as he went to stop you from heading to the door, Freddy shifted, standing in the way of the giant, golden bear.

"Let her go," Freddy said. You glanced back at Freddy before leaving. Plushtrap leapt off of the bed and followed you out of the room. Fredbear looked down at Freddy.

"She's upset. You'll only make it worse. Just let her cool off for a bit. She'll be okay," Freddy said. Fredbear sighed, sitting down on your bed.

"If you're that worried, at least Plushtrap is with her to keep her company," Freddy said.

"Plushtrap is completely oblivious to everything Nightmare has done," Fredbear said.

"Yes, but Nightmare is like a father figure to Plushtrap now. Plushtrap loves him as such. And oddly enough, Nightmare clearly shares the same compassion as a father would for his child. I would know. As a father myself, I've seen their interactions. It isn't wise to say such negative things about Nightmare in front of Plush," Freddy said. Fredbear huffed. He glanced over at the tray of food.

"I suppose it's likely she won't want to see me at the moment, but she needs to eat," he said.

"Well," Freddy began, pausing as a knock was heard.

"Yes?" Fredbear asked. The door opened, revealing Bonnie with an armful of Freddy's cubs.

"These little shi- uh... they were trying to hide in the oven again," Bonnie said. Freddy got up and gently took his cubs from Bonnie.

"Thank you," Freddy said calmly, though not liking that Bonnie was about to insult the three small bears. Freddy then looked back at Fredbear.

"Bonnie. Do you know where (Y/n) went?" Freddy asked, looking back at Bonnie.

"Yeah. She looked a bit pi- I mean annoyed, when she walked past me. What happened?" he asked.

"Don't mind it. Would you do a favor and take her food to her?" Freddy asked.

"Sure," Bonnie said. Fredbear handed the tray and bottle over to Bonnie, who then walked out of the room.

"Do you wonder what William is up to with Nightmare?" Freddy asked Fredbear.

"There's no telling. He won't be able to open the box though, so not much," Fredbear replied. The two bears were left to wonder how safe you really were in your own home, leaving nothing but silence in the room.
