It was the first day of December, and the air was crisp and cold. The tree leaves had fallen off and fell to the muddy ground. The clouds filled up the skies, blocking away the sun. Koyuki lay on her futon bed, she stared outside as Hakuji was preparing her lunch for her. She felt her body become burning hot, her skin glistened with sweat under her yukata. Her eyes were half-lidded and almost looked dead inside. Hakuji came out with a bowl of soup for her. "This soup is said to heal sore throats, perhaps it'll heal yours?" he said and kneeled to her, helping her sit up handing her the bowl, and giving her a spoon to sip it with. A small smile curled onto her lips. "Thank you Hakuji-kun..." she thanked him, her throat burned as she squished the words out. She began to sip on her soup, enjoying the feeling of it rushing down her throat like a river and soothing it. She smiled and looked over at Hakuji, studying his features, she couldn't help but blush.

"Was it good?" he asked, a worried expression painted over his face. She nodded and chuckled. "Yes, it was delicious! Thank you, Hakuji-kun, I don't know what I'd do without you. You always take care of me... and it makes me sad you have to waste your time being with me... You could be doing anything else right now, something fun... but here you are, taking care of me as I just create a bigger burden in your life... I-I'm so sorry Hakuji-kun!" she broke down, set her soup in her lap, and balled her hands as she wiped her tears away. She felt as if she was a burden, she had been a burden to her parents after she became ill, and then her mother had killed herself afterwards... The tears spilled down her cheeks, Hakuji's eyes widened and he suddenly pulled Koyuki into an embrace, as if it were a reflex of his. His embrace was cold, soothing her burning body.

His hands rubbed up and down her back, as he cuddled his head into the crook of her neck. "Koyuki... you are in no way a burden to me, in fact, ever since I met you you've only made my life better. I don't know what I would do without you if you didn't exist, I wouldn't want to be alive." he said, his embrace was cold and each stroke to her back was full of love and reassuring. She was shocked by his words and her eyes widened. She released a small sniffle and her hands snaked up to his shoulders, all she wanted was to be held in his arms, to feel his love as their hearts connected.  "Y-You mean that...?" she asked, he nodded against her neck. "Of course... You're the most incredible girl, Koyuki," he said and held her closer. She felt his heartbeat against her chest. She gulped. He suddenly pulled away and caressed both of her cheeks, wiping away her tears with his thumbs.

His facial expression was serious mixed with sadness, he stared down into her eyes. "Koyuki, please never call yourself a burden again. It isn't true, you're the light in my life." a small smile slipped out, and he couldn't help but smile while looking at her angelic face. A small smile also appeared on her face. "And you're the light in mine," she replied. She suddenly noticed something in the mirror behind Hakuji, snowflakes. She turned her head to the doorway, she gasped as she saw all the snow drifting down from the clouds and to the ground. A huge smile came over her face. She grabbed onto Hakuji's wrist and pointed outside. "Hakuji-kun, look, it's snowing!" she said. He looked outside and pulled her close. "It is, it looks like a wonderland." "Hehe! It sure does!" she giggled.

She was his snowflake.
