Chapter 5

Alli's POV

I was looking out the window as my brother and Sophia fell asleep on my shoulders. I saw we were in a city and dad came to a stop just outside a building. We got out of the vehicles as we took a look at was once a war zone as bodies laid everywhere, "Alright everyone keep moving and stay quiet." Shane ordered. The entire place looked like shit with not only the dead bodies or walkers and pedestrians.

"Beau." Dad whispered. Beau looked at him, "If something happens you take Alli and Carl and run understand?" Dad asked. "Yes sir I do." He said. "Dad I can protect myself." I said. "I know but it wouldn't hurt." I rolled my eyes as we all walked to the main building of the CDC which seemed abandoned.

Beau stood close to Carl and I as Carl held Sophia's hand, "Here's the deal if shit goes south you grab Sophia and I grab Carl then we take off to one of the cars and go." "I am not leaving them." "Alli think of your brother would you rather have him be with Shane?" I sighed knowing he's right, "Carl, Sophia." I whispered the two turned looking at us. "Stay close." Beau said. Sophia held one of my hands as Beau and Carl walked close to each other.

Dad and Shane banged on the walls of the CDC, "There's nobody here." T-dog said. "Why are the shutters down." Dad and I said at the same time. "What do you mean?" Beau asked. "They are closed to keep the dead out so someone's inside or was inside." I explained. "Walkers!" Daryl called. Beau turned shooting a couple with his cross bow as did Daryl. Daryl started yelling that this was the wrong call everyone started panicking when I stepped towards the camera as I saw it move, "Dad." I said pointing at it. "What?" He asked. The camera moved again which dad looked at me.

"The camera it moved." I said to everyone. "Alli this isn't time for one of your jokes kiddo." Shane said as a lot of dead were on our asses. "I am not joking I saw it." I said. "She's not lying." Dad said as he stepped up to the gate and kicked it. "I know you're in there!" Dad shouted at the camera now. "Please there's woman, children, we're starving let us in!" I yelled with him. "Alli, Rick there's no one in there." Mom pleaded with us grabbing my arm but I pushed her off me.

"You're killing us!" Dad yelled. "You're killing the living!" I yelled as I felt arms around my waist. "Alli we've got to go." Beau said. "No, no Beau just another minute." I said. "Alli if we wait another minute we'll all die look." He said as he shot another arrow in the head of a walker. "And I am telling you someone is in there." I said. He went to say something when the door dad kicked opened, "Get in now!" A voice yelled. We all ran inside and once inside the door closed dad and Shane took the front while the Dixon brother's covered our backs.

"Hello." Dad called. He repeated it again when I saw a shadow in the corner of the room which a man stepped out with a rifle like one of the military men outside would use, "Anybody infected?" He asked looking all of us over. He also looked like he hadn't slept in days which who has now with how the world is. "One of our group was." Dad said calmly then looked at us. "He didn't make it." I said. The man nodded, "Why are you here?" He asked dad. "A chance." Dad answered as he kept us all hidden behind him slightly. "That's asking an awful lot these days." The man sighed. "No shit." Beau said. "Sorry sometimes stuff just flies out." He said.

The man chuckled then looked back to dad, "You all submit to a blood test that's the price of admission." He told us still having his gun pointed at us. "We can do that." Dad said. "You got stuff to bring in you do it now once this door closes it stays closed." He told us. Everyone ran out and got their stuff then ran back inside the doors closing. "Rick Grimes." Dad introduced himself holding hand out. "Dr. Edwin Jenner." The man introduced himself shaking dad's hand.

We were all in the elevator with him I stood next to Glenn and Beau. I kept my eye on Dr. Jenner because something isn't right about this guy. I don't know what it is but I will always go with what my dad does, "Doctors always go around packing heat like that?" Daryl asked. "There were plenty left lying around I familiarized myself but you look harmless enough." Dr. Jenner replied. He looked at my little brother, "Except you I'll keep my eye on you." He joked. Carl smirked a little bit looking up at me. I smiled down at him it's been a bit since Carl has smiled I mean he did when we were frog hunting but that was a thanks for this smile.
