Chapter 8

Beau's POV

It was the next day Alli and I were up talking with Rick, Shane and my brother trying to figure the game plan out, "We should split up into two groups." Shane said. "Maybe a little later right now we stay as one." Rick said. "We'd find her better in two groups." "Yeah but we don't need anyone else getting lost." "So you put Alli and Daryl in charge of one group then you and her boy toy in charge of another." "Alli stay with us." Rick and I said at the same time in the same tone. "Protective much?" Daryl asked. "Fuck off." I said.

Rick gathered everyone around and told everyone what the plan was. It's been a while and we've been walking for hours, "Shane look at this." Carl said showing the pocket knife Rick gave him. "Dad said I could carry it and mom said as long as...." Carl was saying. "Keep it down." Shane snapped at him.

I turned looking at the two Carl now looking sad, "What's going on?" Alli asked. "Shane's being a dick to Carl." I said. "Carl." Alli said. He walked over to her as I sent Shane a glare, "You okay?" Alli asked. "I think I made Shane mad." He said. "What?" "Did I do something wrong?" Carl asked. "What's going on?" Lori asked. "Maybe you need to talk to Shane." I said. Lori looked at me, "Whatever happened between you two he's taking it out on Carl and Alli. He lays a hand on 'em I don't care I am putting a arrow between his eyes." I said to Lori. Lori looked at her kids, "Carl thinks he did something wrong and Shane's mad at him." I said. She looked at her son and grabbed his shoulder and talked to Carl.

I grabbed Alli's hand lacing our fingers together, "You think we're going to find Sophia?" Alli asked. "Yeah I do." I said. She looked up at me, "I am sensing a but." I sighed, "Not the way everyone's hoping." I said. Alli sighed looking at Carol, "I am hoping for the best tho." Alli said. I kissed her head, "You always have hope one of the things I like about you." She giggled at me, "Hey you two focus on the task at hand will ya." Shane said. "How about you do what Rick said and keep an eye on the back and not on us." I said.

The group came to a stop and Daryl whistled. I came to the front of the group Alli following me. I saw a tent along with everyone else, "What do you think?" Daryl asked. "No tracks of her but she could be in there." I muttered. "Could be a whole bunch of things in there." Daryl added. "Only one way to know." Alli and Rick said.

Daryl and I moved forward slowly both knives out as Alli held her hand to Carol as Rick called her over, "Carol call out softly if she's in there yours is the first voice she should hear." Rick said as Carol who softly nodded, "Sophia, sweetie are you in there?" Carol called out softly. "Sophia it's mommy." She called again. I took a peak inside through the roof but didn't see anything. Daryl slowly unzipped the tent as we both went inside only to see a person who had blown their brains out which also wreaked. We stepped out, "It's not her." Daryl said.

I coughed and went to Alli when there was a noise that shocked us all, "Are those bells?" Alli asked. "Yeah they are." Daryl said. "Which direction?" "I am pretty sure this way." I told the group. Rick listened with me, "Yeah Beau's right." Rick said. "Its too hard to tell out here." Shane said with frustration. "Hold on if we're hearing that then maybe just maybe Sophia hears it too." Alli said. Glenn nodded agreeing with the Grimes daughter, "Someone's ringing those bells maybe calling others." He suggested. "Or signalling that they found Sophia." Rick said bringing hope for Carol. "Rick..." Lori was saying. "Dad's right she could be ringing those bells herself." Alli spoke up.

"This way." I said which we all took off running everyone following me to a clearing where a church was. "I'm telling you Dixon it's the wrong church." Shane stated glaring at me. I lifted Alli up to see if she could see inside, "It's got no steeple dumbass." Shane said. "Well did you see any other churches in the area Shane." Alli shot back at him. The bell started ringing again which we all started looking around, "Alli look wires." Carl said. "Good job Carl." I said as we followed them to a box. Alli groaned and ripped the wires off as everyone came over, "It's on a timer." Alli said her hands on her head.

We got to the main doors Rick and Shane pushing it open to reveal walkers which we cleared. There was one left and Rick was going to take care of it, "Let me." Alli said which Rick stepped aside as Alli threw a couple knives hitting the walker in the head. Rick, Lori and Shane looked at her as Daryl and I smirked because we taught her to do that, "What I get bored." Alli said. "That was awesome." Carl said. Alli walked over and pulled her knives out of the skull, "Sophia!" Rick yelled as everyone came in looking for the girl. "Hey JC you taking request?" Daryl asked.

A little later was when we decided to split into two groups Shane and Rick would continue looking while the others went back to the RV, "I wanna go with dad." Carl said. "Carl." Lori said. "I'll go with mom it'll be okay." Alli said. Lori looked at Alli, "I'll go too." I said. She looked at me, "I won't leave their sides." She sighed, "Fine." "Be careful." Daryl said to me. "Yes dad." I sassed. He pushed my playfully then we split off.

We were walking through the woods when there was a crunch. We looked to what it was and saw a deer, "Whoa." Carl said. "Stay here let me see  if he's friendly." Alli told Carl. "Stay close Carl." She said I followed them as I saw the two Grimes siblings with genuine smiles on their faces. The deer turned noticing the presence of us but still stood there when a shot rang out and I grabbed Carl. The deer dropped the same time as Alli, "Dad!" Carl called as I went over. "Al." I said. I took my jacket off tying it around her wound tightly just looking down at her. Shane and Rick ran over I had tears in my eyes, "No!" Rick yelled.
