Brielle's POV:

"Mom, dad... there's something I have to tell you guys and I hope when I do that, you'll still see me as your daughter. I- I'm-"

"Gay as fuck!" Naomi interrupts immaturely.

"Damn it, I'm trying to keep a straight face, Naomi. This is harder than it looks," I confess burying my face between my hands.

As if that was enough to hide the shame I felt. I don't know what will happen if I go through with this. Would I be kicked out of my house as well as my team? What if I do all of this and it's too late? Rowan might've given up on me. I never wanted to be one of the reasons she was hurting and it's eating me up inside knowing that I am. Tears began to swell, and I tried my best to wipe them away discreetly but there was no hiding from Naomi.

"Oh Bri, I'm sorry. I was just trying to lighten the mood I swear I wasn't making fun," she reassures incessantly. Placing her hand on my back for comfort that she knew I desperately needed.

"I know. It's not you, I'm just... scared." My head remained drooping and my eyes were now overcome with tears.

"Hey, whatever happens I'll always be with you. I believe that you can, and you will get through this. You know why? Because you're fucking Brielle Myers," she compliments, bits of laughter escaping from her. Captain of New Meadow's soccer team, kicking ass at school one class at a time, the undefeated liquor queen and most importantly the bestest friend I ever had the privilege of having. You're everything and more Bri. If you're going to do this then do it for yourself not for some girl. Do it because you're ready."

"You're right, I am pretty bad ass," I laugh, wiping away my tears. "And I am... ready." I stood back up and took a deep breath in... "Mom, dad-"

Campbell's POV:

I returned to the forest, this time with an army behind me. K9 units swept through the forest looking for any sign of Oliver. Multiple police cars and vans were parked near the road, each housing at least 5 police officers. Perimeters were being made, theories being concocted, this was the part of the job that gave my heart a reason to pump.

"You better pray to the high heavens there's something here Camp," Higgs says removing his sunglasses and surveilling the chaos unfolding around him. "Wouldn't want to send the whole cavalry home with nothing to show for it."

"I don't know how many ways I can tell you to just trust me. I can feel it in my gut Higgs. Something's off with this whole bloody town and I don't think it stops with just Anna."

"Oh yeah? Gat any names?" Higgs questioned, folding his arms in anticipation of a response.

I looked at him contemplating whether it was too early to say. Time was not on my side, and I needed something concrete not just conspiracies.

"We got something!" One of the officers shouted across the woods.

Music to my ears.

I ran as fast as I could to see what they had discovered. As I came closer the smell of rotting flesh became more pungent. Finally, I laid my eyes on the source of the odor. The dogs dug out about half of the dirt covering the victim's body. She rested on her side leaving half of her face exposed and her left arm protruded out of the soil like an exposed root.

"Jesus," Higgs exclaimed whilst covering his nose with his handkerchief. "I'll get forensics over here ASAP," I took out my phone and began contacting them. "I want yellow tape around this whole bloody forest. I don't want anyone who isn't police, press or the mayor within a 5km radius of this. This is now a homicide case."
