(Y/n) sat flustered on Appa's saddle, clutching her burning face in her hands. Sokka looked at her concerned, glancing at Katara who had a smug smirk on her face.

"Hey (Y/n), are you okay? You look like you're burning up," Sokka asked concerned, staring at (Y/n).

"(Y/n)'s fine," Katara butted in, staring at (Y/n) with a grin. "She's just flustered because Haru-"

(Y/n) jumped out of her seat, tackling Katara and covering her mouth, blushing even harder than before. Sokka looked at them for a second, clearly confused. He stood in complete silence for a moment, looking at Aang whilst the gears turned in his head. The moment was deafening silent for a moment before Sokka let out a large and loud gasp.

"(Y/n) and Haru! Haru and (Y/n)!" He looked at you with a huge shit-eating grin.

(Y/n) immediately let go of Katara, stuttering over her words to try to come up with some sort of defense. Aang turned around in shock.

"(Y/n)! You kissed Haru?!" He screamed.

"I- yes..." (Y/n) quietly mumbled shamefully, burying her face in Katara's shoulder.

Katara let out a soft laugh and patted her shoulder.

"Lighten up, (Y/n)! We're only teasing you," Katara smiled. "But, one last question."

(Y/n) looked up at her, confused.

"Did you enjoy it?"

"Katara!" (Y/n) screamed, grabbing Katara's shoulders and violently shaking her.

Everyone laughed in the background.

"But seriously, did you?" Katara asked, more seriously this time.

(Y/n) grew quiet, stopping shaking her shoulders.

"Yes," (Y/n) whispered. "It was nice."

(Y/n) looked up, suddenly seeming shocked. Katara glanced down at them, more confused and concerned seeing the disturbed look growing on her face.

"What is that?" (Y/n) quietly asked, pointing at a large, black-burned area in the center of an oak forest.

"It's like a scar," Sokka breathlessly said.

Aang guided Appa to the ashy ground. Burnt logs were broken at the base, sticking up like broken pillars.

"Listen," Sokka mumbled, kicking the ground, causing a cloud of ash to spray up. "It's so quiet. There's no wildlife."

"Aang, are you okay?"

(Y/n) bent down, tapping Sokka's shoulder. She pointed the the footprints in the soot.

"Fire Nation!" Sokka yelled, clenching his fists. "Those evil savages make me sick! They have no respect for–"

(Y/n) placed her hand on her shoulder, pointing to Aang. Katara grew deathly silent, frowning.

"What? I'm not allowed to be angry?"

(Y/n) softly smacked him, pointing at Aang again. Aang slumped to the ground, letting out a groan. He grasped the ash on his sides, shaking uncontrollably.

"Why would anyone do this?" He mumbled, letting the ash scatter the wind. "Why would I let this happen?"

"Aang, you didn't let this happen. It doesn't have anything to do with you," Katara began to walk to his side, but Aang responded harshly.

"Yes it does–!" –Aang took in a breath, trying to calm himself. "It's the avatar's job to protect nature, but I don't know how to do my job."

(Y/n) placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. "You're just a kid. You're not supposed to know everything yet. Why else would we be going to the North Pole?" (Y/n) asked, trying to get him to laugh.
