Chapter 33: Understand Me

It's been 3 weeks since me and Jacob have broken up. Honestly, I couldn't tell if I was doing alright. My friends had been visiting me everyday, each with their own shift to watch over me. They would help me get my mind off him.

School was a little more difficult. Passing him through the halls while he was with Regina. I never bothered looking at him, nor making eye contact, but I knew that he stared at me until I would turn the corner of the hallway.

It was Thursday.

Today marked 3 weeks since we broke up.

One week from today, I'd be turning 16.

My birthday was on the very last day of April.

I really don't want to be depressed and heart broken when my birthday comes along, so I'm going to do whatever I can to stay as positive and happy.

Just kidding, I'll cut the crap. It's easier said than done.

For real though, I at least want to be happy on my birthday. No bad people, no idiots ruining the day or my mood. Just a day full of fun, with my best friends. That's all I want.

I was walking towards my locker when I saw Regina coming my way. I casually passed by her, and when I was just a few feet farther, I let out a sigh I didn't know how long I was keeping inside.

Opening my locker, a note fell out. I picked it up and pulled a strand of hair behind my ear so I could read it.

Dear Rose,

I know where you go to school now, darling. I'm watching your every move.

Poor Jacob broke your fragile little heart, didn't he? What a pity, so let me fix it, may I?

Meet me in the gazebo in that garden nearby your school. It's a 15 minute walk from there, good enough exercise. Bring no one.

If you simply do not show, one of your friends may get a visit from one of my goons.

Hope to see you there, after school today. Sincerely, your lovely Darien.

Watching my every move? Lil creep. I looked around the hallways looking for anyone who may have looked similar to Darien. I looked out the window and tried to spot anything outside, maybe even in the school parking lot.

"Rose?" I hear a voice behind me.

I turn to be looking up at Bryan.

Bryan and Naomi were two of the main people who had been helping me get my mind off Jacob. I owed a lot to them.

"Hi Bryan," I faked a smile.

"Stop fake smiling girl, it's just me." He put his hand on my cheek and looked into my eyes. The warmth of his hand made me calm down a little. I laughed a little and gave him a hug. He hugged me tightly and got me walking towards the cafeteria.

"Have you been listening to those songs I recommended to you? It took me and Kate awhile to get you those songs. Half that girl's music is filled with heart break songs. Same as Mia."

I gave another little laugh and he had opened the doors for me. I looked straight ahead to see my friends all huddled at one table. I saw everyone except Jacob and Regina. So far today, I was doing well since I hadn't seen him yet.

I should really stop thinking about him.

"Hey Rose!" They all chanted when I came over with Bryan. That was a good way to start off my day. All my friends greeting me enthusiastically. I sat down and Naomi gave me a hug.
