I was woken up by my phone ringing on my bedside table. I picked it up to see the caller ID reading: Kate. Jacob was still asleep so I grabbed my jacket and went to the front porch to answer Kate's call.

"Rose?" She said quietly. Her voice sounded shaky and I could hear a few noises in the background coming from her call.

        "Yes? What happened?"

"What do you mean?" Is she serious right now?

"You called me... During 3 in the damn morning... And you're asking what I mean by what happened... Oh, alright."

"Sorry." I could hear her pick something up in her hands off a table, and it made a sound like a utensil being dragged off a table.

"It's alright. Continue telling me what you called me for."

        "I need help..."

        "With?"

"Come to my place. I'll text you the address." She hung up the phone after a few seconds and texted me her address. She was one fast typer. I went back into the house to get my shoes. I gave Jacob a quick glance and wondered if I should wake him up to tell him, or not. I didn't want to intrude so I pulled open my drawer and grabbed a sticky note.

Jacob I'm at Kate's house. Call me when/if you wake you up. Idk what I meant by if but you know what I mean, yea? Anyways XOXO.

I stuck it on top of his forehead where his heavy breathing blew it up and down. He looked so adorable. I grabbed my Doc Martens and slipped it on, careful to be quiet. When I grabbed the door knob of the bedroom door, I heard Jacob groaning.

"What the shit? Why is this on my forehead.... Rose?"

"Yea......." I said quietly but awkwardly. I turned to look at him as he sat up to look at me. He read the note aloud and confusingly looked at me.

"Why you goin’? And if you said XOXO, why didn't you actually give me hugs and kisses... twice."

"You're so weird. And she called me in the middle of the night. I have to go Jacob."

"Alright. Goodnight. Can I get a kiss before you go? Keeps away the monsters under the bed."

"The only monsters under the bed are your smelly gym socks." I went over to kiss him on the forehead and took off once more. When I got outside, I didn't want to take my car, so I grabbed my red bike because it would also be good for me to take it. I was lucky enough that Kate lived just at the other end of our neighborhood. Once I got to her house, I jumped off my bike and hid it behind a bush. I walked up her front steps while also admiring her house. It was very large and beautiful. I spot the door bell and walk over to it, but right before I even laid a finger on it, the door swung open.

"Get in." Kate's face was a light shade of red and her eyes looked like she's been crying for hours. I walk in while kicking off my shoes and placing them on the shoe rack. She led me up a flight of stairs and went to a bedroom with a red door. I walked inside and she gestured for me to sit on her bed. There were tissues and band-aid wrappers everywhere.

'What the hell were you doing, Kate?" She was covering her wrists and I couldn't help but to walk up to her and see her wrists. She cried a tear and I grabbed a tissue to catch it.

        "He broke up with me."

        "Your boyfriend?"

"No shit. Who else would break up with me?" She was crying a little more but laughed a little at my stupidity. I felt good I could make her laugh. I took another glance at her wrists and she had tiny cuts on them that were still bleeding.
