Chapter 11

Signet and Leaving

General Sorrengail a few weeks later called Alex to her office. Alex wondered what she did to be called to the General's office. Alex knocked.

"Come in." Alex pushed open the door and stepped in. "Cadet Melgren. Come in." It was weird being called that. She knew the Sorrengail family for a long time. Her mom and Lilith use to be good friends before she died.

"You called me, General?" Alex said, closing the door.

"Your father has asked for you to come home for four days." Sorrengail said. Alex raised an eyebrow. "There's a party being held and he would like for you to be there." Alex bit back a retort. "The Wingleaders will be there for the party and then a meeting with the General a couple days after. You can bring a guest and stay till the Wingleaders leave." Alex smiled.

"Bodhi Durran. I want him to come with me." Alex said. It didn't seem to surprise Sorrengail. She nodded.

"If he's fine with going then I'll give you leave." Sorrengail said. Alex smiled wider. "Let your Professors know and see if there's homework you can take with you. You leave tomorrow. The party is in two days."

"Thank you, General." Alex said, heading for the door. Alex nearly ran to the Rider's Quadrant. Her dragon relic was tingling on her arm. It had been doing it for a few days now.

'Can you have Cuir tell Bodhi to meet me in the courtyard.' Alex asked Azar.

'He'll be there shortly.' Azar said. Alex came out to the courtyard with a smile on her face. Bodhi was heading her way. Alex pulled him into a corner.

"What is it?" Bodhi said.

"My father is throwing a party back at the mansion and I get to go away for four days." Alex said. Bodhi raised an eyebrow.

"And why are you telling me?" Bodhi asked. Alex smiled up at him.

"Would you like to come with? I can bring someone." Alex said. Bodhi's eyes lit up and a smile came on his face.

"Get out here and see the legendary Melgren Mansion. Of course." Bodhi said. Alex threw her arms around his neck and kissed him. Bodhi pulled her tight against him and returned the kiss. "Is it true, your father has dungeons there?"

"He does and no you are not seeing them." Alex elbowed him as Bodhi put an arm around Alex and they walk. "We leave tomorrow. The party isn't until two days. Apparently the Wingleaders will be there and we come back when they are done with the meeting."

"So might see Xaden." Bodhi said.

"See me for what?" Bodhi and Alex see Xaden standing on the stairs. "Your invited to the party as well?"

"I was. Bodhi is coming as a date." Alex said. Xaden groaned.

"I wasn't gonna go, but with you two there. I might as well." Xaden said. Bodhi and Alex smiled. "Get to class."

"Yes, sir." The two said and they hurried off.

That night. Alex was working out in the gym. Her long red hair was up in a braid. She kept two daggers on her thighs. She felt a tingle of power in her relic. Alex stopped and ran her fingers down it. She went to punch the punching bag and air suddenly moved and the bag slammed into the wall.

"What?" Alex whispered. Air control?

Movement behind her came and Alex spun to see four unbonded headed her way.

'Fuck. Fuck.' Alex thought. One came at her and Alex moved and grabbed the dagger of her dagger. Fire sprung from her fingers and down the blade. Her eyes widen. Air and fire. What the hell?

"I thought she didn't have a signet!" One of the guys said. Alex threw the dagger and it hit the man in the chest.

'I have two element powers!' Alex called to Azar.

'Hold them off. Backup is coming. See if you can use other elements.' Azar said. Alex kicked a guy in the face as he comes at her. One swipes her feet from under her. Alex hit the ground and suddenly the floor shook. Alex moved her hand and the ground shot one of the guys hard into the wall.

'Earth.' Alex said. Alex tried to think of what other element when a guy grabbed her from behind.

"Lex!" Bodhi said. Alex felt a pull and water came out of no where and hit the man holding her.

'You have control of four elements!' Azar said as Alex dropped to the floor. Alex turned to see Bodhi kill the last two. Bodhi came up to her and grabbed her face.

"I'm fine. I'm fine." Alex reassured as Xaden ran into the room. "My signet. It... It came."

"Water control?" Bodhi asked having seen it.

"No. I have control of four elements. Water, Fire, Air, and earth." Alex said. Bodhi and Xaden share surprised looks. "It did come in handy."

"Impressive. Let's get you to Carr and inform him your signet manifested." Xaden said.

"Carr?" Alex looked at him.

"He is the one that will help you with your signet." Bodhi explained.

That night after Xaden and Bodhi introduced Alex to Carr. Carr seemed eager to see her signet, but after she got back from her fathers. Violet and Rhiannon rushed into the room while Alex was packing.

"Your signet manifested. What is it?" Rhiannon asked.

"And where are you going?" Violet asked seeing Alex putting clothes into her rucksack.

"I have control of four elements." Alex said. The girls looked at her in shock. "They manifested when I got attacked by four unbonded."

"You seriously got attacked?" Rhiannon asked.

"Everyone wants to earn my fathers trust. Carr is not gonna tell my father. I'm telling him at the party. Me and Bodhi are heading to the Melgren Mansion early morning."

"So that's why you were talking to the Professor's." Violet said. Alex nodded.

"And that's where the Wingleaders are disappearing to for a few days. They won't be there till the day of the party." Alex said.

"I'm glad Bodhi is going with you. You'll have fun with him." Rhiannon wagged her eyebrows. Alex shoved her playfully.

"You never did like the parties. I'm sure with Bodhi there you'll be fine." Violet said.

"That's what I'm hoping." Alex said. The girls left as Alex finished packing. Alex laid on her bed and fell asleep.

It was barely dawn as Alex and Bodhi climb the steps to the Flight Field.

"Ready to get away?" Alex asked.

"Of course." Bodhi said with his usual smile. Azar and Cuir were waiting for them. Azar shifted where he stood. He seemed eager to go back to the Melgren Mansion.

'It's been awhile since I was back there, Green Eyes.' Azar told her as she climbe up onto his back.

'Trust me. It hasn't changed much.' Alex promised. Azar turned his head to see Bodhi already on Cuir. Azar and Cuir launch into the air and they head for Melgren Mansion.

AN: That is one of her two signets, well not fully. Heh heh. But she will have two signets like Xaden. Till next time.
