Chapter 15

Trouble with Father

Alex woke up early to go look in her Grandfather's study. She hadn't been in there since her father killed him except the one time to show Bodhi. Bodhi was passed out in her bed. The two went at it all night and Alex still felt exhausted. Alex changed into some of regular clothes and heads down the hall. Alex entered the study. She wanted to see if she could find something about what the others told her. Alex ran her fingers over the books. Her grandfather loved to read and Alex got her love for reading from him. Alex went over to the window and looked out. Dragons were roaming around.

'When do we leave?' Azar grumbled.

'Ready to go now?' Alex asked with a smile.

'Just hate being around Codagh.' Azar said.

'What is your two history?' Alex asked, moving to the desk.

'It's a long story.' Azar grumbled. Alex ran her hand over the wood of the desk. She wished her grandfather was alive. He would of loved Bodhi. Alex started going through the drawers. Alex's fingers slid over the papers and she pulled them out. Nothing was really on them. 'He might have destroyed evidence before he was killed.'

'So, he might of known he was going to die when he gave me those daggers.' Alex said, putting the papers in the drawer.

'When I last knew him before your great grandfather died, you were his pride and joy. He didn't care your mother had a daughter like your father did. And I'm sure he be happy to know you now know the truth and bonded with me.' Azar said. Alex smiled. Alex walked up to the bookshelves and ran her fingers over the bindings of the books. She didn't notice the door open and close softly. 'Behind you!' Alex nearly cried out in pain as fingers dug into the scar and pain shot through her back.

"I told you not to embarrass me." Melgren growled, digging his fingers deeper. Alex swung out, trying to punch him and Melgren grabbed her wrist.

"I didn't embarrass you at all." Alex said. Melgren punched her in the stomach and Alex gritted her teeth as she struggled to stay on her feet. He squeezed her wrist hard. A roar filled Alex's head, making her brain rattle.

"First you were on the arms of the marked ones when I told you to avoid them, then you tell me you have a signet in front of my generals, and then you have that boy kiss you. You could do a lot better with another man." Melgren said.

"Bodhi is more of a man and treats me better then any other man you tried to set me up with. He doesn't care who you are or wants to impress you." Alex said. Alex aimed a kick for her father's stomach, but she cried out in pain as he kicked her leg.

Bodhi was coming out of his room to see if there was food.

'Get to Alex's grandfather's office now!' Cuir said.

'What's going on?' Bodhi asked as Xaden's door slammed open and he came out.

'The General is attacking her after last night and Azar is about to go rescue her. I'm trying to get him to calm down.' Cuir said.

"Where's the office?" Xaden demanded, looking like he just woke up.

Alex slid across the desk as her father threw her across the desk and her head hit the floor. Alex saw stars. Alex rolled onto her stomach.

'Green eyes!' Azar said.

'Don't you fucking come.' Alex told him. Azar growled in her head. Alex heard footsteps.

"Tell me something, father." Alex said as he came around. He grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to her feet. "How did you find out that your father sided with Fen Riorson?" Melgren chuckled.

"Colonel Aetos found out and told me. I knew when I killed the rebellion leaders that my own father was spying for them." Melgren said. Alex finally got a kick in right in the stomach. He growled and his fist collided with her face. Alex hit the ground, her face throbbing. "Your pathetic. I'm surprised that they haven't killed you in the Rider Quadrant." Alex crawled towards the door. Alex stopped as she saw shadows moving. "Your weak."

"I am one of the strongest cadets they have." Alex said.

"You should of bonded with Tairn. Not Azar." Melgren said, moving towards Alex.

"Didn't Codagh ever tell you something, father?" Alex said as the shadows moved towards Melgren. "Dragons don't make mistakes." Melgren goes to make a move and shadows wrap around him. The door bursts open and Xaden stood there. Bodhi moves fast towards Alex.

"Lex." Bodhi said.

"I'm fine." Alex whispered. Bodhi helps her stand.

"You dare attack me." Melgren growled.

"She is under my leadership right now at the Basgiath College. I am to serve out the punishments and I see nothing wrong." Xaden said. Bodhi felt Alex shaking. Melgren bared his teeth. "If you don't want this getting out that you abuse your daughter. I say you let me deal with this and leave the two alone."

"They will kill you, Alexandra." Melgren said.

"If they wanted me dead, I would already be dead, father. Clearly your the only one that wants me dead." Alex said.

"Get out of my sight." Melgren growled. Bodhi walks with Alex out of the office. Xaden lets the shadows go.

"Azar wants me to bring her outside." Bodhi said. Xaden nods.

"Thank you." Alex said, looking at Xaden. Xaden looks at Alex.

"You don't deserve that. Now I understand why you want to help us." Xaden said.

Bodhi and Alex walk outside to see Azar and Cuir land outside the door. Alex let Bodhi go and ran to her dragon. Azar lowered his head and Alex wrapped her arms around him. A soft growl came from his throat.'

'You are going to be back and blue.' Azar said.

'I'm gonna lay down soon as I go back.' Alex said. Azar glares at Bodhi, who raises his hands.

'Take care of her.' Azar said. Cuir gives Bodhi a look.

"I'm not leaving her." Bodhi said. Alex let Azar go. Bodhi came up and pulled her into a hug. Cuir nudged Azar. Azar huffed. Alex looked as Azar and Cuir take off. "Can we go back now?"

"And leave Xaden with father. I'm fine with one more day." Alex said. Bodhi and Alex head back into the mansion. Alex least found out the truth on what happened to her grandfather, but it meant she didn't trust Dain's father anymore.

AN: I'm not sure if Melgren would be like that, but to me he seems like he would abuse his daughter. Till next time.
