Chapter 13

Day of the Party

A roar woke Alex from her sleep in the morning. Alex sat up. Bodhi groaned and put her pillow over his head. Alex slipped out of bed, grabbing her robe and wrapping it around her body. She groaned as she felt the soreness down to her core, but she smiled. Alex pushed open the balcony door and stepped out in time to see a green dragon fly over. Dragons were landing in the field. People were starting to arrive.

"Guess everyone is arriving." Bodhi said, coming up behind her and wrapping his arms around her. He was wearing pants. Alex hummed in agreement. Bodhi kissed her check.

"Xaden and the Wing Leaders should be here sometime." Alex said. Bodhi and Alex watched as more dragons came in. Alex suddenly doubled over.

"Lex?" Bodhi asked.

"Azar. He just woke up and he's hungry." Alex said, gripping her stomach. Bodhi chuckled.

'Your just as hugry, Green Eyes.' Azar said.

'Go eat something before you make me sick.' Alex grumbled at her dragon. Alex felt the pain disappear.

"I'm gonna go grab clothes." Bodhi said. Bodhi disappeared into the room. Alex turned to follow.

'Codagh is here.' Azar said. Alex turned to see the massive black dragon fly over and circle. Alex looked right at her father. His eyes narrow seeing her on the balcony. Alex bit down the anger and fear as she met his gaze. Codagh blows a steam of smoke her way. Alex held her ground and Codagh went to land. A growl fills her head.

'Go eat.' Alex turned away and head into her room to change into rider outfits. Bodhi came back in.

"Cuir said that your father arrived." Bodhi said as Alex put her dagger on her thigh.

"He's here." Alex said. Bodhi came up to her and pulled her into a hug. "I'm fine, Bodhi." Bodhi pressed a kiss to her forehead. A knock on the door came and Cornelia poked her head in.

"Alexandra. Your father requests you to meet in his office." Cornelia said. Bodhi stiffened.

"I'll be there shortly." Alex said. Cornelia shut the door. Alex pulled away from Bodhi and headed for the door. "Might as well get it over with." Bodhi didn't look happy, but Alex stepped into the hall. Talks filled the halls as riders started to fill up the halls. Alex walked her usual path to her father's office, saying hi to riders that knew her.

Alex knocked on the door.

"Come in." Melgren barks. Alex walks in to find her father and Dain's father talking.

"Ahh. Alexandra. I see you were able to come." Aetos said, turning.

"I was." Alex said.

"I'll leave you two be." Aetos said as he heads for the door. Alex moves out of his way. Aetos closes the door behind him and Alex turns to face her father.

"I hear your excelling in everything." Melgren said, coming around the desk and leaning against it.

"Yes, father. I haven't lost a sparring match." Alex said. Melgren's eyes lowered. Alex kept close to the door if she had to make a quick escape.

"I haven't heard reports of you giving your teachers issues." Melgren said.

"Why am I here, father?" Alex asked. Anger flashed in his eyes, but he stayed where he was. "Clearly you didn't send for me to be here to talk about school when you can tell I'm doing fine."

"You are here for the party. That is all and leaving when the Wingleaders come. I don't want you embarrassing me tonight." Melgren said.

"I usually don't." Alex said.

"Go." Melgren said. Alex quickly left and head to her room. Bodhi was out in the hall talking to...

"Xaden." Alex said with a huge smile as she came up to him.

"We just got here." Xaden said.

"He's in the room next to mine. How the meeting go with your father?" Bodhi asked.

"Just telling me not to embarress him tonight." Alex rolled her eyes.

"Let's see how he does with me there." Bodhi said.

"Don't go problems now." Xaden said.

"We won't." Bodhi and Alex said.

"Where are the other Wingleaders?" Bodhi asked.

"Checking this place out. It's massive." Xaden said.

"How did you find Bodhi?" Alex asked.

"Cuir told me he was here and I went to find him." Bodhi said. Xaden looked uncomfortable. Alex got between the two and linked her arms through both their arms.

"Let's give you a tour, Wingleader." Alex said, pulling both boys down the halls.

They spent the whole day together, looking around. Wasn't long and they were called to their rooms for getting their clothes.

"There's my favorite girl." Aria said as Alex stepped into the room. Bodhi and Xaden were going to have their own. "I heard you are now a dragon rider."

"I am." Alex said as Aria pulled Alex into her bedroom. Dresses were laid out on the bed. "Plus I have a boyfriend now."

"I take it he's here?" Aria asked. Alex nodded. "Well good thing I found good dresses for you." Alex ran her fingers over the silks.

"Any with an open back?" Alex asked.

"I thought you didn't like that scar showing?" Aria said.

"I don't mind showing it off." Alex saisd. Aria pulled some dresses off and Alex eyes went on a blue dress with a slit to the side. "This one." Aria smiled.

"Bath is ready for you." Aria said. Alex walked over to the bathtub. Alex pulled her clothes off and slid into the tub. Alex groaned from the soreness. Alex relaxed in the water. Alex hoped the party was going to be fun and her father wasn't going to cause issues.
