Getting the Truth

Bodhi and Xaden share looks and Alex didn't miss it. Alex stepped towards them.

"Your not surprised? You know something and don't lie to me, please." Alex said. Xaden pinched the bridge of his nose. "I'm not my father, Riorson. Haven't I proved that." No one answered. Alex reached into her boots and pulled out the two daggers that her grandfather gave her. Xaden reconized them.

"Where did you get those?" Xaden asked.

"My grandfather gave me these the day before he was killed. He told me that the enemy is not who I think it is and that leadership is hiding secrets from us." Alex said.

"Those weapons are the only ones that can kill Venin." Bodhi said. Alex head shot up.

"Your telling me that my grandfather was trying to warn me. That what I heard at the meeting about venin?" Alex whispered.

"They are real. The Gryphons aren't our enemies. The Venin are." Xaden said. The daggers Alex held was holding dropped to the floor with a clang.

'Azar?' Alex asked.

'They are telling the truth Green Eyes.' Azar said. Bodhi was at her side as she looked at the daggers on the floor. 'Your great grandfather and your grandfather knew and your father wanted to keep it hidden with all the others.'

"And I was almost killed for overhearing about the attack." Alex whispered. She flinched as the scar suddenly stung.

"Alex. He didn't. The Gods didn't want you dead." Bodhi said. Alex looked at him.

"We been trasporting weapons to the Gryphon Fliers to stop the Venin." Xaden said. Alex looked at him in shock. "I knew your grandfather well. I think he was waiting for you to become a rider to tell you the truth of what he was doing. I think now is the time to tell you the truth. Can I trust this won't get back to your father?"

"You have my word it won't." Alex said. Xaden studied her. "I want to help. If you will let me, Riorson. I never saw eye to eye with my father and keeping this from everyone I don't approve of."

"You can." Xaden said. Alex bent down and picked up her daggers. "How did you keep those hidden from your father?"

"I kept them locked in my desk at home and when I crossed the Parapet, they were in my boots." Alex said.

"And your dragon is your great grandfather's dragon?" Xaden said. Alex nodded. "I wonder what your signets will be. You might get two."

"That's fine." Alex said. Alex turned and hugged Bodhi. Bodhi wrapped his arms around her and hugged her. Xaden gave a small smile.

"Has your father always been abusive?" Xaden asked.

"Not when grandpa was alive. He was more of a father to me while father burried himself into his work. When he died. Father took over. I hardly won spars against him. I was black and blue months after he tried a dummy interigation run with me so I knew what I was getting into with the Riders Quadrant." Alex said. Xaden flinched at that. "He beat me to the inch of my life and I never cracked."

"I say impressive, but I heard stories of your father's torture. It never ends well." Xaden said. Alex smiled weakly. "And yet you've won every challenge. I think the Quadrant is lucky to have you Melgren."

"Thank you, Riorson." Alex said. Xaden nodded and Alex headed out of the room. Xaden looked at Bodhi.

"If you care for that girl, be careful. We don't know what will happen if and when her father finds out with you." Xaden said.

"I will." Bodhi said. Xaden watched his cousin leave and let out a sigh.

Alex sat on her bed, looking at the daggers her grandfather gave her.

'I wished he would of told me the truth.' Alex told Azar.

'I'm sure he would of if your father didn't kill him. He was a good man.' Azar said. Alex smiled.

'You think I will get a second signet?' Alex asked him.

'Only time will tell, Green Eyes.' Azar said. The door opened and Alex looked up to see Bodhi enter and close the door behind him. Alex put the daggers on the desk as Bodhi stood at the door, watching her. Alex slid to the edge of the bed. His brown eyes watched her every move. Alex looked at Bodhi.

"You still want to be with me, knowing what my father is capable of?" Alex asked. Bodhi strode up to her and she noticed how much his walk is so much like Xaden's. Bodhi stood in front of her. Alex looked up at him. "I don't want you hurt or worse." Bodhi grabbed her face, gently.

"Don't ask me that again. I knew there was no turning back when I kissed you and I'm not scared of your father. I still want you, Dove." Bodhi said. He leaned down and captured her lips with his. Alex melted into his kiss and Alex pulled him onto the bed and they laid curled up together.

"Dove?" Alex asked as Bodhi and her laid looking at each other.

"Your father is a menace. Your more peaceful then he is. Dove suits you." Bodhi said. He grabbed her hip and pulled her to him. Alex wrapped her arms around him. "Now you know our secret."

"I'm glad you guys trust me enough to tell me. Xaden doesn't think I'm gonna run to my father?" Alex asked.

"After seeing him treat you like he did. I think he knows you won't. Though it was interesting to see him different shades of red with your dragon." Bodhi smiled. Alex rolled on top of him and Bodhi chuckled.

"Mmm. Not as much as me." Alex said. Bodhi grabbed the back of her head and pulled her into a kiss. Alex and Bodhi spent time cuddling and she listened to him tell her of his family before the Tyrrish Rebellion.

AN: Least she knows the truth. Till next time.
