Chapter 12

Melgren Mansion

It was near sun rise as they reached the Melgren mansion. It was near the border of the wards. Alex looked at the mansion she grew up in. It hadn't changed much. Bodhi looked out.

"That looks like a fortress!" Bodhi called.

"It is. Its suppose to be able to have the dragons land on the roof if need for an escape." Alex called to Bodhi. Bodhi chuckled. "I am fourth Generation of Melgrens to be a rider." The dragons circled. Azar led the way towards the door. An old woman stepped out of the door as Azar and Cuir land on the ground. The old woman had a smile on her face.

"Welcome home, Alexandra." The Old Woman said as Bodhi and Alex jumped off their dragons. Alex and Bodhi walk up to her as their dragons took off as soon as they were at the door. "And bonded to a dragon and a familiar one."

"This is Cornelia. She's head of the maids. She's been around before I was born." Alex told Bodhi. Cornelia pulled Alex into a hug. "Cornelia. This is Bodhi." Cornelia looked the boy over.

"Your father doesn't know who your bringing a boy?" Cornelia asked.

"No." Alex said. Cornelia nodded.

"I'll have food ready for you two. Your father shouldn't be here till tomorrow. So you two can have the house to yourselves." Cornelia said. Bodhi and Alex smiled.

Alex stepped into her room. Bodhi would have the room across from her.

"You'll have dresses brought to you tomorrow for the party. It's a dress up one." Cornelia said. Alex groaned. "The young boy seems nice. And you seem happier."

"I am. Now that I don't live under fathers roof." Alex said. Cornelia left. Alex looked over the room. She had a living area along with her bedroom and bathroom. A fire was going in the fireplace. Alex headed towards the balcony and pushed the door open. She stepped out. She saw Cuir and Azar laying out in the sun in the field not far.

The door opened.

"Well, damn." Bodhi said. Alex smiled. Arms wrap around her from behind and Bodhi kissed her shoulder. "Got a perfect view."

"Its where the dragons like to land. It's why I always wanted to be a rider." Alex said, leaning back into him. Bodhi chuckled. "I'm happy you came."

"Same here." Bodhi whispered. Food was brought to them. Alex and Bodhi sat in front of the fire, eating the food.

"Will you show me around?" Bodhi asked as they relaxed in the chairs. Alex nodded. Bodhi got up and held out his hand. Alex took it and he pulled her out of the chair. Bodhi wrapped his arm around Alex as they head out to the room. They walked down the halls. "So where are the dungeons?" Alex shoved him, playfully. Bodhi chuckled.

"Keep it up and I'll lock you down there for all four days." Alex threatened. Bodhi chuckled. "Come on. I want to see something." Alex pulled Bodhi down a hall. She found her grandfather's old study room and stepped in. It hadn't been touched since her father killed him. Alex walked over to the desk as Bodhi closed the door behind him.

"Was this your grandfather's?" Bodhi asked. Alex nodded as she ran her hand over the desk.

"I spend hours in here as a kid." Alex said. Her father didn't want to burn anything. It was to much. Alex looked in the drawers. There were no other weapons in the drawers. Alex sighed and looked up to see Bodhi standing by the map that her Grandfather had hanging on the wall. Alex came up to him and looked at the map.

"Most of the outposts are marked on here." Bodhi said. Alex nodded. Bodhi pointed to places outside the border. "And Venin attacks. Your grandfather was keeping track." Alex saw the red flags.
