Alexis ...

Footfalls echoed along the hall before it was revealed to be Dante who entered the living area. The room bore silence save for the faint sound of my own raspy  breathing. I was still recovering.

Not long had passed before Dante noticed Dido who was now conscious and sitting upright in the love-seat. She'd been smoothing the creases of her wrinkle-free knee-length teal jacket and dare not look at me especially after our moment prior to his return.

Dido raised her head and her eyes met mine in tension before settling on Dante at the realization that he was also in the living area with us. She seemed quite content at staring everywhere else neglecting my gaze in an attempt to avoid more awkwardness. As she turned to meet Dante's gaze in awareness, my eyes were drawn to and lingered on her full lips that had swollen considerably as a result of our contact.

I cleared my throat trying to rid myself of the thoughts that threatened to circulate despite our agreement. Dido and Dante looked my way at the noise. Dido is off-limits though she's my future bride.

At the moment, Nova entered the room somewhat reducing the tension that had accumulated as of late. She smiled as opposed to how I felt in the moment.

"Nova and Dante, please join me in welcoming Ms. Dido Belle ... my new roommate." They both looked at her, Nova was beaming and Dante's face, expressionless as usual. It was not often that he smiled or said much.

"Ms. Belle may I just say it is nice first, to meet you and finally, to have another lady in this big old place." She shook Dido's hand glaring momentarily in my direction before her features softened as she gazed upon the ravishing beauty that was Dido Belle. I could have sworn I saw her blush and I chuckled at the notion.

"Thank you Nova and please call me Dido." She returned Nova's smile. "There's no need for formalities with me."

"Duly noted Ms. Dido," Nova chuckled a bit coaxing yet another blush from her. It was quite refreshing to watch.

Though a bit reserved, Dante extended his hand to Dido who accepted it with a smile. "Nice to meet you both."

"A little birdie might have told me that you dance ballet. Is that true?" Dante asked.

Dido spared a glance in my direction clearly knowing that he was referring to me. She was unlike anything woman I'd ever met though and she was quite easily the most beautiful.

Her dark chocolate brown skin had a remarkable glow. Her figure was well portioned and narrow at the waist with broad hips. Not to mention, her eyes were a stella silvery grey, in stark contrast to her dark skin. Tamed neatly in a bon was her black hair. I pondered about it's length the very moment we met. Her cheekbones were high and she had a cute button nose. Her legs we're the most amazing. That's what gave her away.

Dido looked so delectable in that moment. I had no choice but to look away. It was either that or become a slave to her bewitching beauty.

"Yes I do dance ballet." She beamed, lighting up like a kid on Christmas morning.

"Oh wonderful Ms. Dido maybe you could dance for us some time. It would be mighty generous of you."

"I agree," I confessed causing her to blush and shy away from my gaze. I released a breathe I didn't know I'd been holding. Dante nodded in agreement.

"Sure," She relented with a nervous chuckle.

"Great now that it's settled, Nova please see Ms. Belle to her room." Nova nodded while Dido's gaze settled on me at the mention of her name.

"Wait ... my things!" Dido shot off the love-seat as though they resembled hot coals. "I have to get them. I'll-"

"-Don't worry about it. Dante will take you." I interjected as her grey eyes met mine. She offered a smile and I might as well have been brought to my knees.

"Thank you," Dido replied.

"Not at all," I sported a smile which she returned before Dante guided her out the room and down the hall before I heard the door open.

That left Nova and myself. Yet again I raked my hands through my hair in frustration. Am I really going to go through with this? A Platonic marriage? Here I am an eligible bachelor entering into matrimony with a strange beautiful woman. Is that what I am to be reduced to? When I finally glanced at Nova she was radiant, smiling cheekily and whatnot.

"What?" I groaned.

Nonchalant, Nova enveloped me in a hug me almost knocking the wind out of my chest in the process. She was more than another member of staff to me, she was like the mother I never had the pleasure of growing up with as a young boy.

Nova had tolerated my one-night stands, and the women I dated in the from my dumb teens to up until this point, simply because she accepted me. Despite my obvious misgivings, she offered me something I never had with my parents ... a choice, and for that I was grateful moreso because she allowed me to make mistakes and learn from them.

Her arms circled around me hug a Mama Bear hug patting me on the back. The scene would've been hilarious to onlookers because Nova was a short round lady while I was six feet four inches. Her head came to rest at my midriff.

"Congratulations Mr. Mega." Nova sang.

"What for?" I asked, a bit perplexed as she released me. Nothing could get rid of the mischievous smirk on her face.

"Dido is a very beautiful woman and she seems really sweet. I'm incredibly happy for you." She couldn't contain herself as excitement took over her arms and legs.

"What are you talking about?" I asked again, not following.

"You've never brought a woman home before. It's a sign."

I could not believe how intuitive Nova could be. At that, I made my way up the stairway as a soft chuckle registered in the background. It had been a long day. Not to mention, it wasn't through yet, and I'd initiated a kiss with a stranger who was now my roommate and bride-to-be.

Stepping into my room, I unbuttoned my shirt shrugging it off before placing it in the wash basket. I walked into the bathroom and over to the sink staring at my reflection before splashing on some water on my face. Could I really go through with this?

I lingered at the sink before hitting the showers.
