Chapter 6: The Long -Awaited Return

Third POV:

While waiting for his meal, Adrian decided to lie down and rest. As he relaxed, thoughts of his friend Samuel crossed his mind. He wondered where Samuel was and if he was doing alright. Eventually, exhaustion took over, and Adrian fell asleep, consumed by thoughts of how to survive in this world.

Meanwhile, Richard made his way to the kitchen with an undeniable smile on his face. Everyone who passed him couldn't help but wonder why he seemed so happy.

Richard POV:

I couldn't contain my smile because the young prince had returned after a long wait. Seeing him back filled me with immense joy.

As I walked towards the kitchen, I couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment that radiated so strongly, making people wonder about my genuine happiness.

Upon hearing a familiar voice calling my name, I turned around and greeted, "Greetings, Your Highness," with a respectful bow.

The king nodded and said, "You may rise."

Curiosity sparked in his eyes as he asked, "What brings you here?"

"I am here to prepare a meal for the esteemed Prince Angelo," I replied.

Curiosity turned into indifference as the king responded, "Is he awake then?"

"Yes, Your Highness. He regained consciousness this morning," I informed.

"Very well. Carry on with your task," the king said before leaving the kitchen.

As soon as the king disappeared, the maids began whispering amongst themselves about his apparent lack of concern for the youngest prince.

"He doesn't seem to care about his own son," one maid murmured.

"He didn't even visit him once during his coma after the accident. It's quite disheartening," another maid added.

Their conversation was abruptly interrupted by the head of the kitchen, who warned them to stop gossiping or face punishment from the king.

Ignoring the distractions, I focused on my duties and continued preparing the meal.

The kitchen supervisor approached me and asked, "Richard, how is the prince doing?"

"He is managing, Nicholas. He can now stand to some extent, but he still experiences headaches and body pain. He even fainted twice," I informed him.

Nicholas, the supervisor, offered his assistance, saying, "Let me help you speed up the food preparation. We never know what might happen next."

"Thank you," I replied, scanning the surroundings before proceeding to share some news with him.

"Nicholas, he has returned," I revealed, and without hesitation, he accompanied me to the back of the kitchen.

"Really?! He's back! Thank goodness! Can I go see him and give him a hug? It's been so long since I last held him. Everything changed after the accident..." Nicholas exclaimed.

"Not yet, Nicholas. He still hasn't regained his memory, probably because of his prolonged absence in this world," I explained.

"I understand. Keep me updated when he recovers his memory, alright?" Nicholas requested.

"Of course, Nicholas. But for now, let's not get ahead of ourselves. We need to be cautious, as there may still be threats to his well-being," I warned.

"Some things never change, huh," Nicholas commented with a sigh.

"Yes, Nicholas. And some things never will," I concurred.

"Alright, let's get back to work. You know how easily he gets impatient and grumpy. We wouldn't want that, would we?" Nicholas playfully winked at me.

"You're right," I replied, refocusing on the task at hand.

After a few minutes, I finished preparing the meal.

"Thank you once again, Nicholas. I'll go deliver this to him now," I said, expressing my gratitude.

I ascended to the deserted east side of the palace and opened the door to find Prince Angelo asleep once more.

"Your Highness, your meal is ready," I gently informed him.

He woke up, surprised to see his favorite dish in front of him.

"How did you know I wanted to eat this?" Adrian asked, a broad smile forming on his face.

"I know you well, Your Highness, and I am aware of your culinary preferences," I replied, returning the smile.

"Thank you," Adrian expressed his gratitude, and then he extended an invitation. "Please, join me."

"My apologies, Your Highness, but I am just a humble butler, and you are a prince. It would be inappropriate, and I could face punishment," I declined, explaining the situation.

"It doesn't matter," Adrian insisted.

Fearing the consequences, I followed his command and joined him for the meal.

As I watched him relish the food, a thought crossed my mind, 'Yes, you truly have returned.'
