Chapter 18: The Second Lesson- Unleashing the Assassin's Instinct

Adrian POV

As I walk away, and go to Richard

Ethan POV

Ethan's men exchange nervous glances
"What just happened?" one of them whispers.

"I've never seen anyone move like that," another replies, shaking his head.

Ethan's face is pale. "We underestimated him. He's not just a prince, he's a skilled warrior."

The next day, Ethan's men gather at the training grounds, still discussing yesterday's events.

"I couldn't sleep last night," one of them admits. "I kept thinking about Prince Angelo's skills."

"I know," another agrees. "I've never seen anyone counter Ethan's attacks like that."

Ethan arrives, his expression serious. "Today, we'll focus on defensive techniques. And hopefully, Prince Angelo will control himself."

His men nod, still uneasy.

"I don't know if I'm ready to face him again," one of them whispers.

Ethan places a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "We'll learn from him, and we'll adapt. That's what knights do."

As they wait for my arrival, Ethan's thoughts turn to yesterday's display.

"How can I teach someone who's already surpassed me?" he wonders. "I need to find a new approach, one that harnesses his skills without unleashing his... darkness."

I arrive, and Ethan greets me with a mix of caution and curiosity.

"Today, we'll focus on defensive techniques, Prince Angelo."

Adrian's POV

I arrive at the training grounds, eager for my next lesson with Ethan. He's waiting, his expression a mix of curiosity and caution.

"Today, we'll focus on defensive techniques," Ethan says, eyeing me warily.

I nod, my mind already focused on the lesson.

As we begin, I notice Ethan's men watching us from a distance, their faces still pale from yesterday's display. Ethan senses my gaze and clears his throat.

"Concentrate, Prince Angelo."

I nod, my attention back on Ethan. He attacks, and I defend, our blades clashing. But my instincts take over, and I find myself countering with deadly precision.

Ethan blocks my strikes, but his eyes widen in alarm. "Prince, control yourself!"

I pause, taking a deep breath. My assassin training is resurfacing, and I struggle to contain it.

"Sorry, Ethan," I say, my voice tight.

Ethan's expression softens. "It's okay, Prince. I understand. But we need to work on controlling that... edge."

I nod, determined to master my instincts.

As we continue, Ethan introduces new techniques, but I adapt quickly, my assassin background influencing my movements. Ethan notices and adjusts his teaching.

"Prince, you're anticipating my attacks. That's good, but also dangerous. A true knight must balance instinct with honor."

I frown, unsure how to reconcile my assassin instincts with knightly honor.

Ethan senses my confusion. "Let's try something different. Imagine your opponent is not an enemy, but a friend. Defend without harming."

I hesitate, but try. Our blades clash, and I find myself holding back, controlling my strikes.

Ethan nods approvingly. "Better, Prince Angelo. You're learning."

As the lesson ends, I realize that balancing my assassin instincts with knightly honor won't be easy. But I'm determined to master this new path.

"Thank you, Ethan," I say, sheathing my sword.

Ethan smiles. "You're welcome, Prince Angelo. But remember, a knight's power comes not just from his sword, but from his heart."

I nod, taking his words to heart. Little does Ethan know, my heart is still haunted by the shadows of my past.

Ethan's POV

As Adrian walks away, I turn to my men.

"We have our work cut out for us," I say, my expression serious.

"We need to find a way to harness his skills without unleashing his darkness."

One of my men steps forward.

"Sir, do you think he's aware of his... abilities?"

I hesitate.

"I'm not sure. But we'll need to tread carefully. The last thing we want is to push him further down the path of darkness."

My men nod in agreement, their faces set with determination.

We'll guide Prince Angelo but we'll also be cautious.

For his sake, and ours.
