Chapter 9: Unexpected Conversations
Third Person POV
Upon waking up in the morning, Adrian quickly headed to the bathroom to shower, not wanting a repeat of being bathed by someone else.
Adrian's POV
As I exited the bathroom, a knock on the door startled me.
"Come in," I called out to the knocker.
"Angelo, here are your clothes," Richard said as he entered.
"Oh, it's just you. I thought it was someone else. What brings you here?"
"Are we having lunch here or in the dining area?"
"I'll eat here, just leave it here."
"Alright, I'll wait for you," he said before leaving.
After a few minutes, Richard returned with food, placing it on a small table in my room.
"Come, join me for a meal," I invited him.
"Sure."
While we were eating, I decided to ask Richard something, but I didn't know how to start. Before I knew it, I had been staring at him for a while, and he noticed, prompting him to look back at me.
"Do you need something? What is it? You don't have to stare; you can just tell me directly," he said.
I felt embarrassed and blushed slightly.
I noticed he seemed amused, which made me glare at him, causing him to chuckle and ask again.
"What did you want to ask?"
"What's the name of Papa Jaime's son that was mentioned?"
"His name is Ramon. It seems you enjoy calling the head healer 'Papa,'" he teased with a smile.
I ignored his comment, knowing he would only tease me more.
"Ramon mentioned something about whispers about me. What is this 'Hated Sovereign' they refer to?"
"Hated Sovereign? Yes, the Hated Sovereign because since you arrived, the palace has been in turmoil. Despite that, the queen didn't abandon you; she sheltered and watched over you until an unexpected event occurred, leading to the queen's death. Since then, you were moved to the east side of the palace where you now reside."
"Just because of that?! That's unfair! Why are they blaming me? I didn't kill the queen!"
"That's how it is here in the Kingdom of Astraea. They believe in star predictions, and because they see you as the reason for the queen's death, people, especially the royalties here, avoid you."
"Royalties? Are there other people here besides the siblings and the king?"
"Yes, there are others living here. They stay temporarily as the school where the children of royalties from different parts of the world and even children of nobles study is nearby."
"So the school is close? Is it because it's at the center, and if there's trouble, they can quickly send guards from different palaces?"
"Yes, exactly. The school is centrally located, and it's easy to reach from various kingdoms. Enemies find it challenging to attack here."
"They'll have a hard time if they try."
"You're right. How did you know the school is at the center?"
"Did you see the books on the bed? That's where I learned about it. It's better to learn what's here than remain clueless."
"That's true."
"By the way, can I call you big bro or bro?"
"Of course, you can. And instead of Angelo, I'll call you little brother or little bro when it's just the two of us."
"Okay, then hurry up and finish eating. You'll accompany me to the library."
We quickly finished our meal to head to the library together.
