[12: GOOD ENOUGH GIFT FOR ME : MFE]
3 years later: Year 12
'Niki and I haven't been talking as much since he moved to Busan. Mainly because his mom takes his phone all school year, and during summer break he only had his phone on weekends. I miss him so much, and I don't know when I'll see him in person again.
I still have pictures of him, they're on my wall. Everyday I wonder "does he look the same now? Or better" and I wonder will our friendship be as strong? Will I ever see him again?'

"No more pictures to add." Sooyun thought out loud. "Sooyun!" Yujin yelled. "Coming!" Sooyun yelled back. She grabbed her shoes and packed her book bag before running downstairs. "Are you excited for you first day of your last year?" Yujin asked. "I'm excited to get it over with." Sooyun replied.
Yujin chuckled, "trust me. This will be the best year of your life. It was for me at least. That's where I met my boyfriend, starting actually doing somewhat adult things. You're all grownup now, Sooyun." Sooyun just nodded. "You seem bothered." Yujin said.
"I wished Niki luck on his first day. But I forget that he can't text back." Sooyun said. Yujin frowned, "isn't he the friend you aren't allowed to see due to his mother?" She asked. Sooyun nodded and checked her phone once again, disappointed but not surprised when she saw there was no text from Niki.
"He's turning 18 in a few months right? He'll be an adult. You two can hang out all of the time." Yujin said, trying to lift Sooyuns spirits. "I'm just scared that our friendship won't be the same. I mean we haven't seen each other since we were kids and not we're near adults." Sooyun said. "I understand." Yujin said. Sooyun sighed.

Danielle walked down the sidewalk while sucking on her lollipop. Suddenly, she felt warm arms around her, "guess who?" "Hmm... Hanni?" She asked. "I don't think Hanni has a man voice." Jungwon said, furrowing his eyebrows. "I was being sarcastic." Danielle said, rolling her eyes.
"Speaking of Hanni, where is she?" Jungwon asked. "She moved neighborhoods so she doesn't take this bus anymore." Danielle said. Jungwon nodded. "Where's Sunoo?" Danielle asked. "Late. But when is he not?" Jungwon shrugged. "True." Danielle agreed.
"Can you believe it's our last year of high school already?" Jungwon asked. "I can't. I wish I had spent them better." Danielle replied. "I feel like you spent them very well." Jungwon said, "You have a lot of memories, mostly good." "Yeah." Danielle smiled.
"Hey 'Won," Danielle started. "Hm?" Jungwon hummed, looking down at her. Danielle choked on her words, "how'd you manage to get uglier?" Jungwon smacked his teeth and hit the back of her head, "You have no room to talk." Danielle gasped dramatically.
She turned around and folded her arms. "You're so petty." Jungwon scoffed, doing the same. "Stop flirting and just kiss already." Sunoo said, walking over to them. Danielle looked at him with absolute disgust, along with Jungwon. "I was joking." Sunoo defended.
"How do you guys think Sooyun is doing? She was distant over the break." Danielle said. "Let's be real, she's been distant since 2020." Jungwon said. "Because Niki had to move and they barely talk." Sunoo added.
"I feel so bad for her. I could only imagine if I got really close to someone and they just.. moved and we hardly talked." Danielle said. "If I moved randomly would you be sad?" Jungwon asked. "If be thrilled, actually." Danielle replied, smirking. Jungwon scoffed. "Bus is here!" Sunoo said. Danielle pushed Jungwon out of the way and got on the bus.

"Hey Sooyun!" Danielle greeted, running up to her. Sooyun smiled and opened her arms, immediately embracing Danielle in a hug. "How do you get more and more gorgeous?! Are you magic?" Danielle asked. Sooyun giggled, "You're acting like you don't look like Aphrodites daughter or something."
"Hi Sooyun!" Sunoo smiled. Sooyun opens her arms for Sunoo as well and gave him a hug. "Can I get a hug too?" Jungwon asked. "Only Sunoo and I are worthy." Danielle said. Jungwon looked behind them, "you sure?" Danielle and Sunoo turned around and burst into giggles.
They stepped back and Sooyun tilted her head, "What?" She asked.
Suddenly, she felt arms wrap around her and a head on her shoulder.
She turned around and time stopped completely. Niki looked at her and smiled softly. "Did you miss me?" He asked. Sooyun covered her face as tears streamed down her face.
"Should we start planning their wedding?" Danielle whispered to Sunoo. Sunoo nodded. "I'll be the best man." Jungwon whispered.
"Don't cry." Niki chuckled, giving her a hug. "Shut up." Sooyun sniffled, hugging him back. Niki waved to their friends and motioned for them to go away.
"I missed you so much." Sooyun cried, hugging him tighter. "I'm glad to know these are happy tears." Niki said, playing with her hair. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming? I would've made you a welcome back gift and-" "You're a good enough gift for me." Niki said softly, wiping her tears.
