CHAPTER ONEThe wind gently rustled the leaves as Charlotte ran along the paved road just on the outskirts of the dense forest with her earbuds blasting a random tune from her running playlist. The one perk to her newfound life is the abundance of trees and forest encapsulating the town.
Charlotte was quite frankly upset about having to move away from her home and her old life, but she loved the feeling of a new place, and maybe one day a new home.
She had always wanted a fresh start, her old life didn't fulfill her the way it was supposed to, it was safe to say that she was sad she'd left behind some things, but mostly not.
After her father lost his job, they quickly realized that the quaint little house they lived in that was located in southern california, was no longer a viable option, which meant her family had to move to the place they reside now.
Although she liked the atmosphere, something still felt a bit off and it was driving her a little insane, she had spent her first week hiding in her room as she felt something looming over her, not completely ready to incorporate back into school, but maybe that was okay, she would be back to normal soon.
The girl stops for a moment to catch her breath and look around when it suddenly hits her that she was lost, like definitely lost, as she reaches for her phone to maybe figure out where she is, a smaller car stops suddenly in the middle of the empty road, two girls on the inside clearly talking to each other when a blue jeep stops a few feet back, catching Charlotte's attention as well.
As she peered into the second car, trying to figure out what was occurring, there was a loud crash and screams that caused the brunette to whip her head back, where a deer had crashed head first into the windshield suddenly causing Charlotte to jump back in alarm.
Charlotte yanked her earbuds out of her ear and sprinted to the accident to see what was wrong. The two girls jumped out as she ran up to them, looking absolutely terrified at the scene unfolding.
"It came out of nowhere!" The shorter of the two girls yelled as Charlotte ran up, observing two other boys running up just as she was, checking up on them.
"Are you hurt?" The taller of the two asked the girls.
"It ran right into us!" The strawberry blond yelled.
"Are you guys okay?" A female, out of breath voice made the entire group veer their heads to the direction of the voice in utter confusion, especially the tallest of the bunch.
"Who the hell are you?!" he asked, stepping back but in front of the girls, protecting them.
"I was running by and saw it all happen! I just wanted to make sure you guys were okay" Charlotte said, throwing her hands up in the air, as if to wave a white flag.
The tall brunette narrowed his eyes at Charlotte warningly, as if she was going to jump on them and attack.
"Well I'm not okay! I am totally freaking out! How the hell did that thing just run into us? I saw it's eyes right before it hit us. It was like it was... it was like it was crazy." The strawberry blond said
"I'm all for introductions but why don't we do that after we figure out what the hell just happened!" She continued
"it was scared." One of the boys said.
He cautiously walked up to the window and placed his hand on the deer. "Actually. Terrified."

"So you're telling me" The taller of the two boys said. "that you were going for a run, a few miles from any sort of neighborhood?" He finished
Charlotte rolled her eyes a bit and look at him head on "no I'm telling you I know how to teleport, obviously I got here somehow!" She snapped, crossing her arms firmly.
"How'd you get so far?" He responded, still wary of her precense.
"I'm just an active runner I suppose. Why does it even matter, what is so weird about some girl running on the side of the road..?" She said, waiting for a response, but before he could respond the other boy chimed in.
"You'd be surpri-" He cleared his throat after feeling the glare of the taller boy on the side of his face.
"So are you all just going to stare at me like I have two heads? or say literally anything" Charlotte said, clearly annoyed by the accusations.
The tall brunette opened his mouth to speak but shut it again when Charlotte glared at him, knowing he was going to say she was strange again, begging with her eyes to say anything but who are you? to her.
"Stiles, My name is Stiles" The boy responded.
"What the hell kind of name is Stiles?" Charlotte responds, earning a snicker from the other boy, and an elbow from Stiles. After a long beat of silence, Charlotte rolled her eyes and started to slowly get ready to navigate her way home
"Well since you all look like you're trying to catch flies in your mouth, I'm gonna head back... good luck with the deer" Charlotte finished before popping her earbuds and began to run back home, ignoring the looks she knew she was getting.
"She's insane" Scott says, looking up to Stiles "At least we've finally found someone to keep you on you're toes Stiles" He finishes, before turning around to evaluate the girls, leaving a stunned Stiles glued to his spot on the road.
